Most Awesome Christmas gift

I was thinking JWs myself so it is already beside the door.

My grandma bought me a new kimono. My mom insisted I bring up kimono stuff to wear on Christmas, so I did. Grandma got me a kimono (it’s a tsukesage, suitable for parties and other semi-formal events), and an obi and obi-jime to go with it*. And a fan. And geta. Fortunately I had brought up accessories that matched it.

I also finally figured out how to tie the obi by myself, which means I can start wearing the obis I have instead of just the two pre-tied ones and the informal ones.

  • the obi-jime is the cord that goes across the obi. Example from a couple of years back, so this isn’t my new kimono.

I posted this in the other present thread, so please forgive me if you’ve seen it. I knew Dopers would appreciate it, though, in all its awesomeness: Gift, with me wearing it.

Safe for work.

I got a new Notre Dame hat to replace my scuzzed out one, some assorted fishing lures, and a 47 inch Toshiba LCD television. My girlfriend fucking roooooocks!!

Does she have an older sister???

Q

No, just a younger one. Sorry. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, it sounds like someone’s been doing his “homework”, and being extra “good” this year!

Congrats on the 47" Toshiba, Dude! Enjoy!

My wife surprised my with a Nikon D90 body, to replace my aging D70. I’ve been talking about wanting it for months, but I really wasn’t expecting to receive it as a gift. It was pretty extravagant, and she really caught me off-guard.

The funny thing is, she gets irritated when I take photos when we’re out together.

Here’s the pics of my new kimono, if anyone is interested: http://silvercat17.livejournal.com/59866.html

Pretty!

I got flames for my KitchenAid Mixer.

Oh, you! I’m dying for those.

I got an Amazon Kindle from my mother in law! I was frankly shocked because I would not have spent that much on myself but hey, if SHE wants to spend it than that’s OK!
I love it!

Oh and a $50 gift card for Amazon to get me started. Woohoo!

A Hall & Oates CD (shut up, it was the best they had at WalMart). I paid for it myself and got my money back from the girl-child later.

A cat calendar. Picked out myself, my husband bought it for me and then sold it to the boy-child on December 24th so he’d have a gift to give me.

Dish towels from Grandma, as requested.

Wine from Mom, as requested.

Boots and pajamas from husband, as requested.

Red Lobster gift cards from brother, a total surprise. Unbeknownst to him, we really don’t care for Red Lobster, but I considered this a really thoughtful gift.

<Karl Childers> Some folks call it a sling blade; I call it a Kaiser blade. </Karl Childers>
I got a couple of Barker & Llewelyn books and the family got a Wii, along with a Wii Fit. (And a Disney Princess Wii game for my daughter. Guess which one we have played more?)

I also got a 48-hour virus, but that was fine; I initially thought I hurt that much just from playing Wii Tennis. When I figured out I was sick, it was a relief.

Not this year, but 3 years ago- I’d just had the cat that I’d had for 21 years put to sleep. So, this was my husband’s gift to me- straight from the local shelter:

Not me. It’s allergies, I tell ya.

AWWWWWWWW!!! Now THAT’S an awesom Christmas gift!
