I can think of a few off the top of my head - celebrities despised by many, but still seem to get work and live the life of a celebrity. Granted, some of their money might be from before they became, uh, less-loved, but still - they seem to carry on quite well.

Well, all those people are “despised” for very different reasons. They also have varying degrees of “career.” Both these factors will be equally varied for anyone else named.
