The difference is that Bill Clinton is still married to his wife. Presumably she has either forgiven him or they have an understanding, because Hillary could certainly have divorced Bill after they left the White House, while still looking like the winner. Meanwhile, Arnold’s marriage ended. And Arnold’s owning up to his infidelity didn’t occur until after his wife confronted him about it. I don’t see how you consider Arnold a “white knight.”
How about we just simplify this and take all “celebrities” who are primarily known/despised for their political views off the table?
Kathy Griffin is who I came here to post. She keeps popping up everywhere but I have no idea why people tolerate her.
Someone mentioned paul reubens. Why do you despise this poor schmoe? Because he got caught masturbating at a dirty movie?
Having seen much of Robin Williams’ electric and eclectic routines, I find it hard to believe that he was stealing other comics’ bits as I have never seen another comic like him (except as someone noted above Jonathan Winters). David Brenner? There’s a guy who will never be the answer to "Who’s the funniest stand-up.?
I don’t despise Reubens. But he was the center of a huge controversy, many people did despise him, and I was very, very surprised when he made a comeback.
To millions of people, he represented innocent, chidren’s prgramming, until he got caught in a very sleazy place, doing very sleazy things. Folks hated him profoundly. In fact, I’d say more energy was put into hating Reubens than I later saw regarding the various pedo priests who were outed. That could be because I was with two different work/friend groups for each scandal.
And you’re threadshitting.
If you don’t care about the subject matter of a thread, that’s fine – but do not come into the thread to tell the people discussing it that they’re morons for doing so.
You’ve been here long enough to know better than this, so I’m giving you a warning.

Come to think of it, I can’t come up with a single celebrity in my lifetime who has permanently lost a career due to public dislike. There were a fair few in the McCarthy era, but any since?
Bull. Very few people “hated him profoundly.” That’s absurd.
Most people just thought “Wow, I’ll never look at that guy the same way again.”
I haven’t seen OJ in any movies lately.
He and Michael Richards are doing a buddy-cop thing, I heard.
He’s making one of those “scared straight” educational films.
My thoughts were “Boy, that was stupid. But holy shit! Where is all this outrage coming from? How is this that big of a deal?”
And continuing his search for the real killers as an inmate of Nevada’s correctional system. (He’s been in prison since 2009.)
I started to mention Robert Blake but see that he officially retired from acting a few years before his wife’s death, one many feel he had a hand in. He has since though publicly expressed interest in acting again (Piers Morgan) and would like one last great role to play. So far, no one’s calling.
Balderdash. Allen met Soon-Yi when she was eight years old. EIGHT YEARS OLD!!!
He charged Mia with being an “unfit mother” and trying to get custody of their three children. The court basically laughed in his face, stating Mia was a fine mother and Allen displayed “no fathering skills.” He stated in his filing that their biological son Satchel had been borni in September (actually, it was December), that Mia claimed that Allen sexually molested Satchel (absolutely not) and that Mia had made application to adopt two more children (nope!).
I honestely believe that Allen is staying with Soon-Yi because he believes it makes him look good.
So he left his wife for Fran Drescher and became addicted to Coca-Cola?
Or do you just like capitalizing key nouns?
Him for me too. I’m staggered that a guy who admitted raping a 13 year old girl and then fled the US to evade punishment went on to not only direct numerous movies but actually received an Academy Award. What’s even more staggering is the number of people who actually defend this loathsome creep.
Huh. I didn’t realize she was acting again.
Allen could just as easily be staying with Soon-Yi because she looks good. The question is why Soon-Yi stays with him.
