I have a small selection of Carpenters music. And quite a bit of polka. Lady Gaga.
But the rest is all Metallica, Guns & Roses, and various hard rock/metal, honest!

“Convoy”- CW McCall: really cheezy, but I like it. Kinda reminds of the first girl I had sex with.
“I got High”- Afronman: I utterly despise rap or hip hop or whatever that intangible toxic waste is, but it is a very funny song.
“Paparazzi”- Xhibit: the instrumental version from The Sopranos soundtrack, at least.
"Don’t Stop Believin’ "- Journey: snobbish about the post-Greg Rollie Journey era, except for this song as used in The Sopranos.
Just one:
I have a couple of David Cook songs, too. A few months back I had “Come Back to Me” in heavy rotation - love that song (despite Cook’s unnerving pallor)!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c07MLKeCVag
woodstockbirdybird, I’m a 46-year-old white guy, and I will confess that I think Britney Spears’s “Oops! I Did It Again” is an awesome song.
Most of my embarrassing tunes are sentimental favorites from when I was a kid:
most embarrassing would be having an ipod.
Gosh, you’re so cool and edgy.
Bruce Springsteen singing “Froggie Went a-Courting”…it was for a lullaby CD I made for a niece and her husband.
I have three whole C. W. McCall *albums *on mine. Not really embarrassing, though–I like him, and I don’t mind admitting it.
As for embarrassing–well, I’d be embarrassed if several of my industrial/EBM-loving friends discovered that I’ve got several Barry Manilow tracks, including “Copacabana.”
The Dutch language version of “Barbie Girl”. To my uneducated ear, Dutch and German sound pretty similar so we have this bright, bouncy little song that sounds like it’s going to invade Poland. Love the looks I get from it.
That’s on mine, too.
I have “Born a Woman”, by Sandy Posey on my iPhone iPod.
This one reared its head today: Ludacris – “You’s a Hoe”
I like the rhymes, okay? “Ho-tel E’rybody…even the mayor / Reach up in the sky to the ho-zone layer” <—love that.
I don’t know for sure. My iTunes library has something like 28,000 songs in it. I keep meaning to make a ‘safe’ playlist which eliminates songs that might embarrass me but it’s hard to think of just the right way to construct a smart playlist to do it automatically and it would be way too cumbersome to try and do it manually.
The one anecdotal experience I have is from when I went ultralighting and they had a iPod hookup and seeing that I had an iPod insisted that I connect it. Of course one of the first songs to come on was “Summer of Drugs” which caused my face to go red, thinking the pilot would assume I was some kind of druggie.
I think the OP and others might be thinking more along the line of embarrassed due to taste issues, but I don’t concern myself with that. There are a few (OK quite a few) cheesy or outdated or really gay songs that I love, but if anyone called me on it I would just claim License by Irony or License by Nostalgia, both impenetrable legal defenses. Or alternately License by Inviolability of Collection or Compilation.
I have “Barbie Girl” and “Roses are Red” by Aqua, “Butterfly” by Smile.dk, and three different versions of “Japanese Boy” - the original by Aneka, and two covers by Starmind and Shanadoo.
Why are they embarrassing? Because I’m not a 14-year-old weeaboo girl. No, I’m a 39-year-old weeaboo woman. If anyone is offended by this, so be it. I’m too old to let people shame me for my tastes. This ain’t high school anymore, people.
Softly Whispering I Love You by Jonathon and David.
By the standards of this thread so far much of my music would probably be embarrassing. I’m not ashamed of my heeeuuuuge Britney Spears collection but sometimes I turn down the volume on my iPod so the people around me can’t hear Enya blasting through my headphones.
God I love Enya though.
I also have the Susan Boyle version of ‘Wild Horses’, but I feel funny saying I’m embarrassed because it actually is really good!
I just wasn’t made for this thread, I think. I’m shameless!
Oh- I also have “Gonna Get Along Without You Now” by Viola Wills.
I presume you’ve heard her hushed, ethereal “May It Be” from the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack? A beautiful song.
Certainly have! (Don’t tell anyone, but I own every song she’s ever released, except for a few B-sides)
It really is beautiful, as was Annie Lennox’s ‘Into The West’ from Return Of The King.
‘May It Be’ in 2001 coupled with the previous year’s ‘Only Time’ crossing over to the pop charts means that, maybe, for a year or so, Enya was… cool? Maybe? Maybe not.
Jump Around - House of Pain
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
OMG - Usher
Fantastic Voyage - Lakeside
Rump Shaker - ?
Push It - Salt & Peppa
Cannonball by Menudo.
It’s total 80’s cheeseball drivel, but I caught a bit of Cannonball Run 2 on TV the other day and thought “I have to have that song”.
