I mostly agree. But I kinda get a kick out of the Flo ad done in a 1950s style where the announcer person asks Flo where her husband is.

I’m torn on this Carls Jr/Hardees Rick and Morty ad. On the one hand I don’t like that they shilled for Carls Jr. but on the other it might provide some exposure. But it probably will only ever air on Adult Swim at night who is already the target demo for the show and on the other hand maybe they got money to help out the show.
I thought that was pretty great. I do hope they get more exposure, that show is fucking hilarious.
Might I suggest…
Time shifting?
Usually, I am not sitting watching the TV - it is on while I’m doing housework or whatever. If I’m too far away from the TV to bother with muting it, I just say nasty things to the ads.
As in using a DVR. Watch it later and skip through the commercials. That’s what I do. I never see them.
The rare time that I watch something real time, like a sporting event, I have the fortunate ability to tune them out. I am only vaguely aware of what is playing. I read email or something until the show is back.
I don’t watch TV to see such but really just about anything, a pic, a magazine, a website is just one big advertisement, often for a variety of things including the very subject of it’s purpose. For example, Tech forums are in a way, a large advertisement for tech gadgets, computers and software to where entire threads can be sometimes brand biased. We are onslaughted daily by opinions and visuals that make us want.
Flo is Progressive, not GEICO.

I was recently forced to switch from Chrome to an extension-free version of Internet Explorer at work. After years of using browsers with ad-blockers, I have been absolutely appalled at the number of gaudy, random ads on news sites and tech/engineering forums. Do that many people actually click on the things??
One year (12 months) free car insurance for you.
Ah. We don’t have one of those. I think that our cable provider lets us start shows over, but that’s about all we have for time shifting.
With sprinkles?
Sprinkles are for winners.
Oh my gerd that video is so touching. It brought a tear to my eye.
If anyone cares, South Parks’ current story arc is about how ads are trying to kill people.
If you’re interested you can rent a DVR from the cable company. From the three companies I’ve had in the last decade they were $10 a month.

DrDeth, I do believe that you started the hijack to complain about how people are hijacking things.
So you have become that which you hate.
Most fascinating.
Well, she is kind of stupid that way.
Well it’s official. I knew it was going to happen and it finally did. Disney has sold out Star Wars.* So ladies what would you rather have, Dark Side lipstick or Light side lipstick?
I was watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on MTV this morning and this comes on:
*
Actually I think it's really cool that they recognize their female audience and i love the look of the ladies in the commercial. I mostly just wanted to be the first to share the commercial.
Disney is merchandising Star Wars?! This is an unprecedented affront to the franchise!
Nope. I responded to the OP’s question about why he put it in the Pit:"Because it seemed appropriate, given the subject. Also to allow anyone who’s seriously annoyed to swear like a drunken sailor with Tourrette’s.
My apologies if it isn’t the right location, and mods, feel free to move to a better place."
He didnt know you could swear in any forum.
Then a bunch of loser Non-members started with the hijacking of the thread with out of context personal attack, culminating with Miller’s personal attack hijack.
But I guess it’s probably too much to expect a parasite freeloader to be able to actually read a whole thread.
Don’t you have offs to fuck?
I have serious trouble managing to see something as classy and high-end that’s sold at the register at Sheetz year-round.
Here’s my library card. I’d like to borrow that.
And renew it every fortnight.
