My application of Occam’s razor to this thread indicates that the OP has a time machine, in which he joined in 2003 and instantly leaped 10 years into the future to post a juvenile rant. There’s just no other reasonable explanation of how such a dumb post can come from a long-time member of this board. It has got to involve a time machine.

I don’t know any real life liberals who expressed happiness at the deaths of Thatcher or Reagan, either. Although, in all honesty, it’s true that my first reaction on the news of Jerry Falwell’s death was, “Good!” Which I’ll admit is not an admirable reaction. On the other hand, Jerry Falwell expressed on more than one occasion that I deserved to be tortured for all eternity, and blamed me for the 9/11 attacks, as well as any number of natural disasters. So, let’s call that one a wash, shall we?
The difference there, of course, is that tree hugging stoned out hippies aren’t given much of a voice in the Democratic party, while the Republican party spent decades deliberately courting racists, and the current party platform is explicitly homophobic. While this should certainly not be taken to mean that everyone who defines themselves as a conservative or a Republican should automatically be assumed to be racist or homophobic, it is entirely accurate to say that the party as a whole is homophobic, and (at the very least) has a very troubling recent history on race issues.
Of course, most of the liberals you just listed don’t make a habit of directly and personally attacking people with conservative values, the way Bachmann, Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck regularly do with liberals. It’s much easier to be “above the fray” when no one’s actively trying to drag you into it.

Then we all should encourage bigdfrombigd to spend less time posting on The Blaze, and more time posting on the Dope; since, on the latter board, he at least has the chance to perform the socially valuable function of making liberals feel morally and intellectually superior to conservatives.

Falwell, Robertson, Phelps and others of their ilk will not be mourned by me or many others because of their hateful speech. While I don’t wish them ill, I wouldn’t piss on them if their heads were on fire.

Environmentalists were a key part of the Democratic platform. It was less vocal then after Gore’s Oscar winning performance as an animatronic doomsayer but was still there.
The problem is with the party platform, not the members. IMHO the bulk of people who identify as conservatives are RINO and are really fiscal and national security conservatives while socially moderate. Unfortunately the money and publicity pushes the extremist agenda in an attempt to be more anti-Obama. In the name of Poseidon’s pulsating perineum we need a real, viable Libertarian party.
Ed Schultz does it on a regular basis. Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a “dumb twat” (she is an idiot but the language was offensive). And Chris Matthews is the Howard Beale of MSNBC with his diatribes against conservatives.
