Most moving music video

McGuffin. That’s the word I was after.

I believe I’m tenth in line:

Johnny Cash - Hurt

is the most painfully beautiful and touching thing I’ve ever seen in music video, and I’ve been watching since MTV appeared.

A third vote for “This Woman’s Work.”
BTW: Where the hell has she been? Doesn’t she know we’ve gotta get an antidote to the Christina’s and Britney’s clones that are clogging up the airwaves? Did we do something wrong? If so, we’re very sorry…

“1000 Oceans” Tori Amos

Does anyone have to view the Tool video “Prison Sex” online?

‘Yellow’ By Coldplay, he’s walking on a beach pouring his heart out all the way through the night until day, very moving. And it’s all in one scene. Very very good.

“All Is Full of Love” by Bjork. The song is incredible on its own, the video, which you can see at SciFi.com, is exquisite. Two robots are being built at a factory (by other robots) but unlike the others, these two each have Bjork’s face, and in the midst of the sterility and industry of the factory, they find each other and embrace, even as the manufacturing robots continue to assemble them. It’s out there, and yet it’s not.

Another one that’s moving on a completely different level is “Bad Girl” by Madonna. Madonna is the protagonist, as usual, as a book editor whose life is clearly spiraling out of control. She’s drinking too much, smoking too much, eating too little (including what the viewer is left to believe is canned cat food) and has no one in her life, even the cat she loves is truly aloof. She’s engaging in a series of empty physical relationships and this proves her undoing. (I won’t spoil the ending.) The entire video is seen rather from the perspective of her guardian angel who is played, inexplicably, by Christopher Walken. It’s a beautifully put together little film, really, with great cinematographic value beyond the storyline and the song. It’s funny because the song went nowhere in terms of heavy airplay and chart success, and it might be her best video of all. (That’s not just my opinion, either, it seems.)

Hurt by Johnny Cash.

Orange Crush by REM is a moving vid.(Orange Crush being a euphemism for Agent Orange and it’s harmful side-effects .)So when you see the soldier using the contaminated soil to darken his face…

Twelfthing Hurt.

My vote would originally go to JC’s Hurt, but it seems that it’s been adequately covered already.

So I’ll go with Hellbent by Kenna. It tells a story of a fantastic headset that alters reality to make it seem vibrant and fun. But in truth it only masks the true world, which, while drab and gray, is beautiful in it’s own right.

The video is done in fantastic claymation and gets my thumbs up.

I can’t get Hurt to run on my computer. (I can get the music in Media Player but no image. Downloading any further video programs on my computer would destroy it, I’m sure.) Is there a link to it somewhere as a flash?

I can’t find it now, but several months ago I read an article that dealt with that video and the missing children whose photos and info were given in the video. There were actually several different versions of the video out there (a couple of regional US and a European), and as you say they updated as kids were located. Many of the kids who ran away decided to return home after seeing themselves on MTV, so the video did help.

“Back At One”, Brian McKnight sings about his love for his wife just minutes before he dies in a plane crash. I personally found it very, very moving.

Unfortunately, even with its haunting sentiment, due to 9/11 the video gets no airplay and is hard to find.

That video is actually a short film entitled MORE by Mark Osborne. The original soundtrack was actually New Order’s “Elegia”. I heard this thing was actually played on the Imax(!).

If anybody wants to see it, it can be found here.

I’d like to apologize for using the word “actually” three times in three consecutive sentences.

Kobaltblu,
I believe that Tool has their music videos posted on their website:

Unfortunately, the website doesn’t seem to be responding ATM, hopefully it’ll be back up soon.

i agree, it makes me want to cry when i think about it

also, while not emotionally moving when it comes to the Sad Factor, i find that Jeremy and Do The Evolution by Pearl Jam are quite sobering.

The Dance by Garth Brooks

Oooooh! Lucky #13 for Cash doing “hurt”! (And anyone know where I can watch it?)
