I’m the most “prominent” SD poster as I’m the REAL voice of Milli Vanilli.
Could we discuss what makes somebody ‘prominent’?
Is it fame? Talent? Achievement?
Since I don’t read People or People-like magazines that discuss celebrities, I would say the definition of prominent in this case is…if I have heard of them.
Everyone mentioned so far, with the exception of actor Jim Beaver, is “prominent.”
If we’re counting one-offs, which we seem to be, Hugo & Nebula award winning author John Varley posted in a thread about of one of his books. I’m sure it was him - I emailed him from his website asking him the question that was raised in the thread, including a link to the thread - he emailed me back with the answer, then created an account and posted the same answer in the thread.
Ian Rowland has posted here, but I forget his exact handle. He is prominent in magician’s circles, wrote the book The Full Facts of Cold Reading.
ianzin, right?
I’m surprised no one has mentioned that skateboard dude, Tony Hawk. He pops up just about everywhere.
Cory Thomas, the author of the comic strip “Watch Your Head” posted in the “Get Fuzzy” thread in Cafe Society just last week. He might not be Neil deGrasse Tyson prominent, but I imagine most comic strip fans know of him.
The person who said he was Neil DeGrasse Tyson decided to prove it by saying the exact time his next tweet would happen. And it was as he said. I’m convinced.
Destin Sandlin (of Smarter Every Day) mentioned the SDMB in his “No Dumb Questions” podcast sometime last summer I think. It sounded like he had once been active in more than a drive-by capacity.
I have always suspected we may have prominent posters here posting under different names. Is their any evidence of this?
I’m Batman.
S.M. Stirling has also posted here a few times in response to his books being mentioned.
I’m Spartacus…
I’m hungry.
Hi Hungry. Nice to meetchya.
I’m Incognito.
I’m Agador Spartacus!
I’m not sure.
Based on biographical info disclosed in the Ask the aging rock star thread, I believe aha was Mike Rabon, who died last month, aged 78.
