Not that there’s anything wrong with that (as long as they’re not racist). I don’t watch a lot of reality television, but one can’t help but notice the increase of more rural folk on TV in the US these days. I have seen "Moonshiners"once, and my guess is that you can’t get much more back woods than some of those folks , but I’m willing to hear about other contenders.
Not reality TV per se, but I would say the White family from Dancing Outlaw and The Wild Wonderful Whites probably win the crown of greatest actual hillbillies to have come to the attention of popular media for no other reason than being hillbillies.
The only reality show I watch is Lizard Lick Towing. Ron Shirley has got to be up there somewhere when it comes to rednecks.
I don’t know the name of the show, but I’d vote for Turtle Man. He seems like a nice guy, and he’s doing a service in catching possums and coons and snapping turtles and relocating them. But shouldn’t he be making enough money from the show to buy some teeth?
I don’t know what the name of the show was but these taxidermists pose animals for different scenarios. The episode I turned off featured two of the biggest rednecks I’ve ever seen.
I mentioned this once before here, but I think Shelby Stanga of Ax Men is the living, breathing version of Early Cuyler of Squidbillies!
"Here we go!"
