Most right and left wing TV shows?

I agree about Family Guy* being liberal. Some of the episodes like the gay marriage one or the illegal immigrant ones are almost cartoon political rants.

Well, Family Guy is a cartoon.

If there were any doubt about Family Guy, it was removed when he had the McCain/Palin campaign button on the Nazi uniform. That goes beyond liberal to ultrapartisan.

Family Guy has gone so far to the left that it forgets at times that it’s supposed to be a comedy show. If Seth McFarlane wants to express his politics this strongly, he should find another outlet for his rants. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but let’s get back to the fart jokes and Stewie’s death wish for Lois.

I am a conservative, and I don’t mind the leftist stuff. The show is still funny. Seth speaks through Brian, and that is not a problem to me at all. It is in keeping with Brian’s character, so fine-o. Besides, Everything’s better with a bag 'o weed!

I believe Parker and Stone are on record as saying they hate conservatives, but “really fucking hate liberals”.

I’m going to put FIREFLY in the right column. Big alliance goverment is bad. Armed citizens good.

Respectful? She’s pretty much portrayed as a kook and a caricature.

That would make them libertarians.

Well it’s pretty much a direct analog of post civil war South minus the racial issues.

Sheldon’s Mom? The show is certainly intellectual focused, which some people equate with liberal, but mostly it avoids political and social issues.

Slightly off-topic, but doesn’t this describe Star Wars as well?

Not quite. Mind you the good guys were The (Rebel) Alliance To Restore The Republic in the original trilogy, and in the prequel trilogy, the good guys were trying to protect or maintain the Galactic Republic (even at least a few of the bad guys seemed to have this goal in some form though)

EDIT: Basically, in Star Wars, its’ not big government vs small government, so much as big benevolent Republic vs. large oppressive Empire

I’d say “Breaking Bad” is pretty liberal.

You have a meth kingpin who’s really just a good guy who’s trying to do right by his pregnant wife and handicapped son and is really just a victim of circumstance. He has cancer! We need to feel sorry for him! He’s just misunderstood. He’s not so bad. He fights the really bad meth kingpins after all!

You have his brother in law who’s in law enforcement and therefore is a dull, tactless, braggart, racist, right-wing caricature, as well as a hypocrite who covers up for his thieving wife - who’s just sick, after all!

You have his partner in crime who does what he does because of drug problems that are all because of his parents, who want all of their children to be perfect little geniuses and put way to much pressure on them. His life of crime is their fault.

What is funny about Designing Women is that Dixie Carter is very conservative. She described herself as ‘the only Republican in show business’ and reportedly had a deal with the shows producers that for every one of the liberal rants she had to give, that she would get to sing a song.

I found some absolute proof that real Boomhauer’s exist. I am Southern born and raised but even I can’t make sense of this. They might as well be speaking Icelandic.

Guy told the story of taking his dog to the grocery store…the one that used to be the Winn Dixie but now is the one where all the Mexicans are. Anyway, he takes a shower and takes his dog to the store, but he didn’t let his dog go the bathroom first. He gets there and they’re out of everything he wants, but he gets some beer and some coffee, and it takes him like 30 minutes, because there’s a line. So he then goes out to his car and his dog’s gone the bathroom all over the place. He figures he has to go back and get a bunch of paper towels. Then he sees a shopping cart with all those discount circulars, so he uses the circulars to clean up the car. Then a Mexican comes and takes the cart and is pissed at him because the messy circulars are all over the cart, so he yells at him in Spanish.

Thanks, that helps. I watched it about 10 times and understood it up to the point of the store circulars and $10 paper towels but then I was lost. You forgot about the black people in the parking lot with their bongos though.

Apparently Family Guy is going to take a turn to the right. Brian is slated to have a political conversion and become a Limbaugh fan in the upcoming season.

That’ll just be another opportunity to make fun of conservatives.

The only fond memry of Designing Women is my neverending crush on Jean Smart, 58 and still a really fine, fine* lady.

(* fine, fine = hot and over 50)
