Mother's and Father's day with my son's kindergarten class

Last Friday and this past Wednesday, my son’s class honored their mothers and fathers–Friday, a Mother’s Day Tea, and Wednesday, Donuts With Dad. For each occasion, the children wrote notes to the parents. I also got the class “cookbook” and my husband got a “fact sheet” about himself. I just thought I’d share with my fellow Dopers what our son had to say to us. I’m typing this just as he wrote it, with translations as needed in parentheses.

For Me:

“Dir (Dear) Mom,
You are the best Mom in the world. You take me to see my frends at the prck (park) and the crnuvl (carnival). You rub my back. You takse ker (care) of me win Im sick. I love you. Love, Jason”

His “recipe” for steak:

Get a piece of steak. Then put it on the grill. Let it cook for 10 seconds. The flip it with a spatula. After you flip it, let it cook for 19 seconds. The take the steak off the grill and put it on a plate. Then cut it up and eat it.
For his Dad:

“Dir Dad,
I like win you ride me on the fowller (4-wheeler). I like win you giv me froot. I like win you tace me to Chucee Cheeziz (Chuck E. Cheese’s). I like win you take me hunting. Love, Jason”
The “fact sheet”

My dad’s favorite food is…bunanus

My dad’s favorite color is…red

My dad loves me because…I rub his back

I love my dad because…He take cer (care) of me

Our favorite thing to do together is…play games

How much money does my dad have?? Nine hnjririd & nindee nine dolers ($999)

Kid’s–ya gotta love 'em!

Aww, that’s sweet.

My son nominated me, his mom, for his ‘fitness hero’ because I’m a “nerse”. Obviously, he’s a little confused on the subject because I really don’t like to exercise (although I do it a little bit) and he just completed a year of martial arts with his dad. I think I may have to ‘file’ that paper when it comes home because I’m afraid it will hurt dad’s feelings.

DD was to write a paper about what her parents do all day. I don’t have it handy, but she wrote something like this: My mom goes to the movies and eats an extra large box of gummy worms. Then she comes home and plays checkers on a hippos head. Then she gets my dad from work and they party. After that she invites all the other moms over and they clean the house. That’s why the house is so clean when I get home.

I just love the spelling! My son wrote a journal entry last October about Chrikorchreeting. I’ll never throw it away.

Your son may be destined to be a chef - his steak recipe is spot on.

DH said something like that when I read that to him! I like my steak pretty rare, that’s a fact!

One kid’s recipe for apple pie said to cook the pie at 7 degrees for 20 hours. Their concept of time is really funny!
And Caricci, that’s just too adorable! Funny what kids hear and how they translate that onto paper!

And, oh, man, I just checked my first post and I cannot believe that I misused that stupid apostrophe at the end. AUUUGGHHHHHHH!!!
