My daughter went shopping the other day, and bought a new pair of boots, some veggies, and a kitten. I wasn’t quite expecting a new kitteh to be honest.
Well ‘Silver’ is a tiny little black and white kitteh. According to the adoption papers, she’s 11 weeks old but holy shit, she’s about the size of a 7 wk old. She’s as skinny as fuck but I’m sure we’ll fatten her up a bit in the coming weeks.
And Silver is the funniest kitten I’ve ever met! She’s very talkative, squeaking out miaows when she wants acknowledgement. And she’s also EXTREMELY tactile when she hasn’t seen you since, like, an hour ago?
This is literally an IN YOUR FACE kitty. Get up in the morning and once she realizes I’m awake, she wraps her scrawny little bod around my neck…for 20 minutes or more, writhing and purring and miaowing like mad. Wakes up from a kitty-nap, ‘OH, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN HUMAN, I LOOOOOOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH’ and a repeat of the morning. Go to pick the kidlets up from school? Yeah, guess what happens!
It’s soooo cute, but I really wish she’d share the pussy-love a bit more. I think she’s attached herself to me more because I’m the first up in the mornings. I’m off on a holiday in a week or so, so HOPEFULLY she’ll learn that the other humans have shoulders and necks and just love having mouthfuls of pussy too.
Was she bottle fed by a human mom? I bottle fed a kitten one time who acted just like that. You may be her desired human. As we all know, you don’t choose the cat, they choose you (or not).
I know them’s the rules, but I don’t have a photo hosting site. I’m old dude, gimme a break. I grew up when you had a camera and took a roll of film to the developer…and it cost around $24AUD to process the shitty shots. Still trying to wrap my head around all this new-fangled techy stuff.
Our fuzzball, who’s affectionate almost to the point of codependency, has developed a routine where she has a Morning Human (me), Daytime Human (spouse) and Evening Nap Human (one or other child - often elder daughter who is the Feeding Human)
I’m sure your new owner will learn to spread the love in time too
One interesting result of this is that she can’t stand for any of us to go away. Completely disrupts the schedule! The Taller Girl was on exchange for six weeks last year - kitty cat just about went nuts trying to find where she’d hidden herself.
I know how you feel. My fingers still smell like fixer. I have even developed color negatives and slides, and printed color photos. Those nightmares make the digital age even nicer. Dang IPhone produces images as nice as my DSLR.
I think she may have been Beck. She’d been in foster-care for some time before we adopted her, so it seems feasible that she was a bottle-baby. Nawwwww.
She’s soooo tiny, it seems cruel that she’s already been speyed! Our other elderly sloth kitty (Coco) isn’t terribly impressed, but nothing much impresses her anyway. But watching Silver arch her 5" back and then go prancing towards Coco in attack-mode is a fucken hoot.
actually sometimes it just gets worse my aunts cats are all rescue and the one that picked her will get hostile with anyone who even sits ex to her with growls and evil looks of feline doom and shes endlessly vocal when shes annoyed and she sleeps all over her at night…….
