Move Yer ARSH Music

In a bold, yet delayed, move to actualize my New Year’s resolution I am starting jogging again. One thing that would help me is a motivational workout soundtrack. So what would you put on a work out CD? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Beach Boys “Run, Run, Run”

Run Lola Run soundtrack

Awwwwww yeah!

:stuck_out_tongue:

This is a good idea – I’ve been contemplating doing the same thing.

First thing that came to mind was “Body Movin’” (ha ha) by the Beastie Boys. Slow tempo, might be good in the beginning or end. Hmm…what else gets me going? “Ready To Go”, by Republica. You can now hear this on umpteen bajillion car commercials. Probably “Ray of Light” by Madonna, too.

I’ll keep thinking on this.

I find that the music I can run to the best has a beat that matches my footfalls.

Working out in a gym a few years back, I realized that “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer exactly matched my stride. Not exactly what you’d think of as a good running song, but it kept me in my groove.

So what I’d look for are rhythms that match my pace. This ain’t exactly easy, which is why I haven’t yet sat down and made my own running mix.

As for easier stuff, I’d go for energetic songs in general:

Older Rock - Rolling Stones, Ramones
Newer Stuff - anger rock (like Puddle of Mud, Godsmack, etc.)
Hip Hop - don’t know specific artists, but this is a good high energy genre

Actually, any song that makes you happy is probably a good one!

Thanks guys. Funny but I have Run Lola Run Soundtrack and didn’t even think about that. Maybe I will try a working out in the gym CD (using some of Gundy’s idas) and a running CD (ala scout1222 suggestions). Cool.
