This is a continuation of the “moved threads” threads. Here is where I will post the destination of subjects best served by other forums.
To MPSIMS:
I’m wondering why we don’t see more moving of threads. the most recent candidate is the one on GM food. It seems more like a GD topic than anything else.
There’s also been a couple in recent weeks (can’t remember specifics) where the question has been answered in one of Cecil’s columns (which link is provided by someone else), but then it’s claimed that Cecil was wrong and here’s why. I keep expecting these kinds to be moved to Comments on Cecil’s Columns, but it doesn’t happen.
This is the second largest forum (after MPSIMS), but it has only one moderator. Perhaps Manny needs an assistant.
“GM foods” seems to me to always be one post away from GD, then someone comes in with some science that makes the potential “other side” say “Oh, wow, I didn’t know that; here’s a follow-up question.” But eventually, yeah, I predict it will make the trip.
For Cecil’s columns and Mailbag items, I generally only move it if people take issue with the answer, as you say. I’m not aware or any threads like that which I’ve missed. If I have overlooked something, please email me.
And you’d be surprised how quick moderating this forum is. Everyone is so thoughtful that it going through posts is a breeze. That said, traffic is picking up nicely, and it the time may be nearing when I’ll need some assistance. But for now, well, I’m just a loner by nature.

manny, kindly consider moving all future riddle threads where they belong (to the fiery gates of hell or MPSIMS, at your discretion). This is getting quite out of hand. I agree wholeheartedly with handy when he says (here) “If you already know the answer, don’t post the question. Let’s not insult the people here.” GQ may be appropriate for riddles you’ve heard but didn’t hear the answers to (like the current thread started by gabbyhayes), but if you already know the answer, take it elsewhere please.
As it happens, riddles, word games and the like are among my least favorite things to have in GQ. But Cecil Adams loves them; they represent a disproportionate percentage of the posts to which he has responded in this forum.
But they’re a short-lived fad. I’ve noticed that once someone posts one, we get a dozen or so in a short span and then they go away again. So I’ll email the bigwigs again, but my advice is to sit tight and abide them from now. If they become a long-term problem, we’ll set about addressing it.
