MoveOn.Org Is Starting To Drive Me Nuts...

OK - so I remember them for being a force to be proud of during the first Obama campaign…so I know their hearts are in the right place.

Still - I recently signed ONE petition, and now - wow - it seems like every person in the organization has decided to send me an email daily.

Really people - I know some of you might be getting paid, but geez…can you sort of chill out and NOT send me one email after another after another after another…?

(I just clicked on the “send once a week” button - hopefully that will work!)

I signed a petition a long while back and the same happened. I’ve considered unsubscribing, but they’re just so damn amusing and adorable that I can’t bring myself to.

Hi, alternate me!

I signed a petition over the weekend - something local, and not really a left/right type issue.
I’ve received three or four e-mails since then, completely unrelated to the petition I signed. I clicked unsubscribe, and chose the ‘Completely remove my subscription’ option…ignoring the ‘Send me one mail a week’ option.

I then got an e-mail explaining that there was a ‘Send me one mail a week’ option, and offering me a chance to stay. Umm…no. I dropped off because of the spam. You won’t win me back with more spam.

It would drive me nuts too. I’d almost want to scream YARRRRRRR!

I donated money in order to get an Obama coffee mug in 2008 and have been getting e-mails by the dozens every week. Never a day goes by when some democratic candidate from somewhere or Emily’s List or some other “progressive” group asks me to sign a petition or send a donation. They even suggest how much I should send them.

I’ve got them down to a suggested donation of $3.00.

I just marked them as spam so they go right to the spam folder.
I can’t deal with the onslaught they send me but every now and then I cruise the spam folder to see if they sent anything I’m actually interested in.

I average 3 a day

It is like the worst outbreak of Herpes

I swear it is making me less Liberal, I defended Bricker in a Pit thread not long ago

Are online petitions there to do anything other than gather email addresses?

I live in Arizona so every time I get some form fill “call your senator” email it’s like “yup, I’m sure John McCain will respond very well to asking him to not vote on this thing John McCain proposed”.
