A friend of mine is looking for a movie:

“I need help from my movie buff friends! I saw this movie when I was a kid & I think about it all the time but have no idea what it’s called. There was an old couple & one of them was dying so they cut off the vacuum cleaner hose, attach it to the tailpipe of their car, put it in their trunk, turn on the car & kill themselves. Nice movie for a little kid, ay?”

She says she saw it when she was about 8. I can’t remember her exact age but that would be in the early 80s.

Any clue?

My guess is it’s the made-for-cable movie Right of Way](Right of Way (TV Movie 1983) - IMDb), starring no less than James Stewart and Bette Davis. Davis played a woman with a terminal illness, and together she and Stewart decide on a painless death for both of them. Here’s a good descriptive analysis of the film.

Also it’s available on YouTube if your friend wants to suffer the misery again. :slight_smile:
