During today’s episode of the syndicated version of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, one contestant got a question about what Elvis did before he became a singer. Although she didn’t get the question right, she recalled she has once saw a show or movie on television about an alternate universe in which Elvis never became famous. Elvis’s twin, who has come back from the dead, encourages him to become a singer. This piqued my curiosity- does anyone here in the Big Ol’ Dope World know what exactly she’s talking about?
It was probably the episode of The New Twilight Zone, “The Once and Future King”.
In it, an Elvis impersonator goes back in time and meets Elvis, who thinks the guy is his long dead brother, Jesse.
The guy and Elvis get into a fight and Elvis is killed. The guy goes on the take over Elvis’ life.
Bubba Ho-Tep has a similar concept, I suppose it could be said, but it’s probably not the story she’s thinking of.
