Movie Remakes are now officially out of control!

Picking the nit a bit finer, it wasn’t about the marriage of Frank and Ernestine. Frank & Ernestine were two of the twelve Gilbreth children; the book was about life in their very large family.

I’ve never seen either of the movies that were based on the book, but from trailers for the Steve Martin vehicle it’s safe to say that the only thing it had in common with the book was the title. Too bad, because the book is a lot of fun.

I think that if you remake movies, you should stick with the classics. After all, with such great source material, what could possibly go wrong?

So there’s no Mr. Beardsley?

Mr. Beardsley?

Mr. Beardsley?

Mr. Beardsley?!

A remake of Yours, Mine and Ours doesn’t sound too bad to me. But on the other hand, I’d happily watch a TV show based on Cheaper By The Dozen, so there’s no accounting for taste, huh?

Yep, and it was indeed a reference to LotL. Kevin Smith is good for little inside jokes like that.

I’d recommend catching this movie though, I saw it, and it’s pretty good.

Back to the topic, I’d be against them remaking Suburban Commando. I don’t think any remake could do that movie justice.

I know that it’s one of the signs of the Apocalypse when I see that Tim Burton is remaking Rabbit Test with Crispin Glover in the lead role.

Actually, I love the original “Yours, Mine, and Ours”, and I own the book and the DVD. I’ll watch the remake, although I doubt it’ll do the story, or the Norths and Beardsleys, credit.

Now that Parts: The Clonus Horror has been remade, there’s a whole mine of other MST3K candidates…

How about “That’s Not an Angel in My Pocket” starring Ron Jeremy?

I’ve never heard of Angel in my Pocket.

“Attaboy, mf!”

Speaking of Lucille Ball, perhaps it’s time for someone to dust off the* Long, Long Trailer.*

MANOS 2000!!!

They’re also doing a new Superman. Dammit, Christopher Reeve just died recently-can’t you wait a little while?

Not saying I didn’t enjoy it, it was entertaining; certainly moreso than the last few. But it was mindless entertainment: cliche, formulaic, and completely unnecessary.

That’s exactly why they’re making it now, to cash in.

Actually, I was disgusted when the Psycho remake came out, and the director was bragging about trying to match all of Hitchcock’s timing for the original. That just seemed waaaay over the line into lack of imagination.

BTW, as long as we’re talking about Don Knots vehicles, wasn’t there talk of redoing The Incredible Mr. Limpet?

And for all that “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken” is a little dated, if you want really dated, try this other Don Knotts film.

Aww, I thought you were linking to “The Shakiest Gun in the West”. I used to love Don Knotts … up until he was on Three’s Company.

Actually, when they were married, Tom Arnold and Roseanne were talking about doing just that.

What’s a “necessary” film?
