I was an extra in that movie!
Miss Monday, 1998 Anglo-American film obscure enough that it has no Wikipedia page. I enjoyed its unusual theme (but not enough to highly recommend it). IMDB rated it 6.4; one of the comments is
I put “Kenny” into my Netflix queue, and it’s currently on “short wait” status. Is it possible that it has us to thank for that?
I’ll second the recommendation on that. It’s one of my favorite vampire movies. I’ve always wondered if Anne Rice had ever watched it.
We can only hope. By the way, I strongly recommend subtitles, as these people are speaking deep Australian.
And that settles it. I own the DVD, time to watch it yet again.
If you enjoy Kenny, see if you can get Red Dog another recent, very funny (and at times pretty sad) film based on a real dog that wandered Australia’s far north-west Pilbara region in the 1970’s.
Anyone else seen The Day of the Wolves?
I must have been 5 years old, off school sick and at my mothers’ workplace for the day (she was the administrator at a home for mentally & physically disabled kids - most of the day they were at school). I remember sitting in the lounge of the house watching this when it was on as the midday movie. Never seen it since and have never found anyone else who even know’s it exists.
At first when Kenny was mentioned I got it confused with Bad Boy Bubby which is a whooooole different kind of film.
“The Acorn People.”
It’s about a camp for disabled kids and the camp director kept expecting them to do things that able-bodied kids can do. I saw it on TV late at night and I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who did.
I saw Oh! What a Lovely War in 1969 and enjoyed it. It was a musical about WWI. I haven’t found anyone else who has seen it.
Some of these entries are bringing back memories of movies I have (thankfully) forgotten. Unfortunately I now remember them.
The Manitou!!! Ugh!
Nope, I’ve seen it too. It aired a number of times, and there’s a book about it too. It may be on VHS, but I don’t think it’s on DVD.
There was another similar movie that we watched at school (on a big huge clunky VCR) called “A Shining Season”, a docudrama about a terminally ill athlete who coached a kids’ track team to the state championships. He had all his trophies re-engraved with the kids’ names, and the elementary school where he worked was re-named after him and remains so to this day.
Threadjack: Several years ago, a poster on another board said he worked at an amusement park the previous summer, and part of his job involved going underneath rides every hour or so to retrieve items that had fallen out of purses and pockets. Electronic equipment was always activated to aid in finding the owners. One day, they got a phone whose owner had used to take numerous pictures of himself masturbating. They made the photos into a slideshow titled “Vacation Pictures” and sent them to everyone on his e-mail list, which included his boss and his grandparents.
I’m curious to know what you think…
Update: “Kenny” will be the next movie I get from Netflix. I’ll keep y’all posted.
The Hellstrom Chronicle gave me nightmares decades ago:
Did ya see it?
Yep. In a major movie theater, no less.
Just finished watching “Kenny”. Folks, I thought it was a documentary until the final scene! I’m gonna check out the extras too.
TYVM to all who suggested it! It was terrific.
Except me.
Has anybody else ever seen “The Star Wars Holiday Special”? It’s so bad that apparently George Lucas ordered all copies of it to be destroyed. It’s on the Internet now and it took me 2 years to watch it. I watched half one Christmas then the other half the following Christmas. It is beyond terrible.
I’ve never met anyone who has seen a movie called “Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control”.
I loved it - sounds like a porno ( ), but it is all about what lion taming, naked african mole rats, robot design and animal topiary have in common (a surprising amount).
