Do you ever get tired of seeing how these people live? I mean, this is their chosen profession and some think they must know everything about these people. Some idiots confuse the character with the individual that plays the part.
I get sick of seeing the great wastes of money these actors take part in. I’m sick of how we(blue colar workers and so on) work for nothing and actors paly a role(i know its really hard at times) and they get payed millions, or whatever the case may be. It sickens me to see how some actors live and the silly things they want and must have.
Don’t get me wrong, I love movies, I adore arty films, I just get fed up with their lifestyles and waht they waste. I get tired of sttar struck fans hanging on some actors every last word, or trying to mimick some rapper.
I watch as little tv as possible and avoid reality shows, shows like et and I admit i do like bravo, but enough is enough. I believe actors need privacy, actors make way to much money and I don’t care about their adictions and self discovery. As a culture I think we spend way too much time worshipping these overgrown babies, spolied brats living it up, doind things I could never afford to do.
I guess I’m jealous in a way. I’m also sick of it. Do you think its time to reject these aspect of our culture and put it in check? How do you view this, as a problem or healthy and I’m just overreacting?
Please share what you will and please tell me I’m not the only one tired of our tv overindulgence and boarderline whacko infatuation with these so called stars.
sheesh…I see your point about dumb newbies,I’m sorry for my role in making any of you dumber having read even one sentence of that horrid post.
going to bed now, i must now begin recovery after that. almost like dropping a tray in the lunch line, around 4th grade…
For what it’s worth, I totally agree with you. What will the archaeologists of the future say about our culture…“Well, Fred, it looks like they worshipped the people who lived their lives in make-believe and the people that could throw a ball the fastest/furthest/etc. Hell, the people they trusted to raise and teach their children didn’t even make a living wage!” Makes you wonder, huh?
I’m not impressed with the excessive lifestyles of some celebrities, but I think I view most of it in a detached, semi-amused manner. I do wonder what it is about acting that makes a single performer worth millions for playacting, until I remember that it’s a business and they’re a commodity. Supply and demand and all that.
Until we as a society decide that we’d rather spend our money for schools and public safety than for movies and CDs, none of this will change. As long as a ticket to a football game is a higher priority than increased taxes, those sports and entertainment personalities will continue to live as they do. There are only so many dollars and everyone wants a share of them. Celebrities are lots more interesting than school bonds and fire fighting equipment.
Oddly, despite the fact that actors make millions of dollars for a few weeks or months of work, nothing would make it worth it to me. What they do looks hard. I would like to see an “Ask the famous movie star” thread, though.
Yes I’m pretty much an anti-celeb too. This includes over exposed and over paid actors, musicians, TV presenters and those that are just famous for being famous.
I don’t mind the ones that go about doing their job and lead as near-normal life as they can, but the ones that are in our faces all the time are the most annoying. These are also the ones that are presented to us as being perfect beings which for some reason, we should aspire to be like.
I can understand the obsession kids have with celebrities because they naturally look for role-models, but when I see adults wanting to know what dress Nicole Kidman or Jennifer Lopez wore to some schmooze-fest it’s a bit sickening. I think women are often the most obsessed with that stuff.
I tend to feel a bit sorry for people who have an unhealthy interest in what celebs are doing and wearing as they must be very unsatisfied with their own lives.I can’t think of any other reason why they would do it. It’s just such a shame look up to them as they’re often the most insecure and dysfunctional people around.
