Movie titles that are spoilers.

Last night I watched “Journey for Margaret” (1942). At one point in the story, it was uncertain if Margaret would go on the journey or not. Except, no, the title clearly told me she would. Admittedly, the “journey” of the title could have been a figurative rather than a literal one, but still.

The I thought of “Kill Bill” (2003).

Are there other examples of movies where the title of the movie spoils the movie itself?

Star Trek:
“The Wrath of Khan”
“The Search for Spock”
“The Voyage Home”

I haven’t seen it or read the book yet, but I have worked out at least one thing about John Dies at the End

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Penn & Teller Get Killed

The Bigamist, directed by Ida Lupino and starring her, Edmond O’ Brien, and Joan Fontaine. Good film, but it would have been more interesting if the title hadn’t revealed the twist.

There Will Be Blood

Mr. Mom

Return of the King? I suppose the title could have referred to a different king though.

They Shoot Horses, Don’t They is a spoiler for the film’s ending, but you have to see the film to realize it.

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

Sink the Bismarck!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence - not only states the obvious fact that Liberty Valence ends up getting shot…

…but also hints at the twist that “the man” who did it isn’t the one everyone thinks it is.

**Contact **- For a good long while it’s in doubt that any contact will ever be made, but the title doesn’t let you down (or does it)!

Nightmare on Elm Street - 'nuff said

Apparently, not enough blood.

All the Brothers Were Valiant
Dances With Wolves
The Last Emperor

Dead Heat, Joe Piscopo’s first (only?) starring vehicle, looked in the ads like a standard buddy cop movie, but he was a zombie cop midway through, apparently. I think he died more conventionally at the end.

I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard that Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx is an example of this.

I Spit on Your Grave. Kind of, anyway.

I have never seen these two films before, but their names pretty much seem to say it all: Jason Goes to Hell and The Hills Have Eyes.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

Raise The Titanic.

Didn’t we just do this a couple of months ago?

Nine Dead
I Shot Andy Warhol

A lot of these suggestions (Search for Spock, Mr. Mom, etc.) describe the *premise *of the film, not the *resolution *of the film. So I don’t think they count as spoilers. They don’t tell you any more than a decent preview or TV commercial would tell you.
