Last night I watched “Journey for Margaret” (1942). At one point in the story, it was uncertain if Margaret would go on the journey or not. Except, no, the title clearly told me she would. Admittedly, the “journey” of the title could have been a figurative rather than a literal one, but still.
The I thought of “Kill Bill” (2003).
Are there other examples of movies where the title of the movie spoils the movie itself?
The Bigamist, directed by Ida Lupino and starring her, Edmond O’ Brien, and Joan Fontaine. Good film, but it would have been more interesting if the title hadn’t revealed the twist.
Dead Heat, Joe Piscopo’s first (only?) starring vehicle, looked in the ads like a standard buddy cop movie, but he was a zombie cop midway through, apparently. I think he died more conventionally at the end.
I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard that Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx is an example of this.
A lot of these suggestions (Search for Spock, Mr. Mom, etc.) describe the *premise *of the film, not the *resolution *of the film. So I don’t think they count as spoilers. They don’t tell you any more than a decent preview or TV commercial would tell you.
