Movies "strong enough for a man, but made for a woman"

People forever talk about “chick flicks” and “guy movies” but there are those that we like despite being aimed at the other gender. These are mine:

[li]I love The Professional and I’d rank it in my top ten favorite movies of all time. Even in this movie you can already tell that Natalie Portman is going to be a powerful actress.[/li]
[li] Playing God. Both male leads are attractive, there are a lot of guns and double play.[/li]
[li] The Big Hit. I saw this one with one of my closest friends, and we were the only non-teenage boys there. The video store scene is priceless.[/li]
[li] The Replacement Killers. I guess by now you see I like the hit-men thing in general…Mira is in the catagory of “girls who kick butt” too.[/li]
[li] Bad Boys. I look forward to the sequel being made if Martin Lawrence gets his #$%^ together long enough. Supposed to be in 03’ now.[/li]
[li] ** Fight Club.** I really like the plot, and I never suspected the plot twist until near the end.[/li]
What are yours?

The Family Man… does that count?

Well, I’m brain-dead from sitting at work all day, but at least one that I can think of is Circle of Friends. Very nice movie 'bout 3 girls who grow up in Ireland mid 20th century.

My favorite guy films (dick-flicks? no, too crude):

Die Hard - I adore Alan Rickman
Yojimbo - actually, any movie with Toshiro Mifune
Ronin
Ghost Dog
Most Jackie Chan films, but especially First Strike, Rumble in the Bronx, & Drunken Master II

My husband’s favorite chick films:
Um, I can’t think of any, but then again, I don’t like too many of them either.

Well, I was the guy who started the “I like chick flicks” thread, so this is an easy one for me.

Off the top of my head:

Return to Me
Where the Heart Is
Steel Magnolias
Places in the Heart
The River

Speaking as a Manly Man (Note my deep, baritone voice and face full of hair) here are a few chix flix that I’ve enjoyed (but don’t tell my buddies down at the VFW):

Angel at My Table
A Streetcar Named Desire
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
The English Patient (yeah, I know it was crap)
Heavenly Creatures
Moonstruck
Mystic Pizza
Pretty in Pink
Truly Madly Deeply (Yo, Lucie: Alan Rickman!)
When Harry Met Sally

That’s enough, gotta go rotate my tires now…

I like Save the Last Dance and You’ve Got Mail… That’s all the good ones that my GF has subjected me to. Some of the others made me want to go to sleep.

Lessee…

French Kiss
When Harry Met Sally
Moonstruck
Mystic Pizza
Pretty in Pink
Steel Magnolias
Circle of Friends
The Matchmaker
9 to 5

That’s all I can think of for now; I’m sure there are more.

Girly-girl that I am, I never even imagined I could possibly enjoy a movie about boxing. I mean, could you get anything MORE macho? So my vote here goes to one of my favorite movies of all time, Diggstown.

Not to completely resurrect Crunchy Frog’s ire, but I love Titanic. I saw it twice at the movies, I own the tape. Damn it, now I’ll have to watch it again tonight.

Others:
Boys Don’t Cry
An Officer and a Gentleman
(I think that’s a cross-over anyway)
Legends of the Fall
Howard’s End
Shakespeare in Love

I’m sure there are more. …

Die Hard
Aliens
Terminator
Pulp Fiction
The Professional

Heck, I love a good guy movie. A good guy movie. Sniper was not a good guy movie.

My husband liked Thelma and Louise which is just a guy flick with chicks, if you ask me. He also liked Fools Rush In. He got to laugh and see Selma Hayek on the toilet.

I’m male, and I loved Thelma and Louise. I don’t consider it a “feminist” or “chick” flick but a lot of people perceived it that way.
