Movies you are NOT ashamed to admit you like.

Yaaaay! Someone finally mentioned “Army of Darkness” (Good…Bad…I’m the one with the gun ) Priceless!

Of course I have to mention "Cherry 2000 " (Cheese sandwich…pretty! )

And ok…ok… I actually liked "Queen of the Damned "

I’ll admit to being a huge fan of that “other” Mike Myers film So I Married An Axe Murderer

Come on, what’s not to like? Myer doing his Scottish thing as the father, the brother with his huge head, Anthony LaPaglia in 70’s pimp clothes
…and then the poetry

The best part for me was when the father was singing Rod Stewart in a Scottish accent accompanied by bagpipes.

. . .“We have a piper down, I repeat, we have a piper down”
Great flick

I’m happy to see three of my top ten have already been listed:
Hudson Hawk :
“673 Wong’s in the phone book.”
“Hmm, that’s a helluva lot of Wong numbers.”

Real Genius
“If there’s anything I can ever do for you, or more to the point, to you…”
“Can you hammer a six inch spike thru a 2x4 with your penis?”
“Not right now”
“A girl’s gotta have her standards”

and Clue
“. . .and monkey’s brains, while popular in Cantanese cuisine, are not often to be found in Washington D.C.”

but I haven’t seen any mention of James Gardner’s master straight man role–
**Support Your Local Sheriff ** : of which at this moment I can’t think of a single line, since I haven’t seen it in years. Fine, fine film.

And, the 2 that always make me cry: Little Big League and Magor League . Must be a baseball thing.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who like Adventures in Babysitting. It’s still one of my favorite movies.

Gang Leader: Don’t fuck with the Lords of Hell.
Chris: Don’t fuck with the babysitter.

Dialog like that is priceless.
I also love Labyrinth in spite of David Bowie’s pathetic attempts at singing. It turned me on to Michael Motions who is astounding as a juggler and illusionist.

Also on my list:

Batman and Robin, just to ogle Alicia Silverstone in spandex.
The House on Haunted Hill, because it scared the snot out of me when I was 10.
One of Vincent Price’s better horror/comedy movies.
And I like Clint Eastwood’s Man with No Name trilogy. Ah-ee-ah-ee-aa…wah,wah,wahhhhh…

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it…but…I may have a soft spot for the Labyrinth. I dunno’, maybe it’s just David Bowie in tights and dancing with muppets, but damn I love that movie.

Also, Pez and Leechboy…excellent pics. I used to watch “Axe Murderer” with my dad about once a week… And still watch “Princess Bride” all the time.

Has anyone mentioned Lost in Space? Apparently, it was bad enough to come free with my DVD player, but I loved it!

I’m also partial to Galaxy Quest. THE best Star Trek spoof ever made, bar none!

My favorite line (paraphrased): “How could you just open the door? We’re on an alien planet! Is there air??? You don’t know!!!”

Oh, one more: Best in Show!
“Where’s Busy Bee? Find Busy Bee!!!”
“That’s a bear in a bee costume…”
and…
“So I’m just going to wait until I get another message… from myself.”

And let me cast a vote for Undercover Blues

Kathleen Turner and Denis Quaid as married secret agents on holiday in New Orleans with their new baby. Great fun, snappy dialog.

None of mine have been mentioned so far, probably because they’re from a different era, but my list of favorite movies is a constant source of embarassment.

Silent Movie (I love almost everything from Mel Brooks)
Foul Play (just saw this again last weekend and loved it as much as ever: Goldie Hawn! Dudley Moore! Barry Manilow! Burgess Meredith! Chevy Chase in a rare funny performance!)
Author! Author! (the reason I love Al Pacino)
American Dreamer (the reason I love Tom Conti)

More recently, one of my favorite movies from last year was the completely unappreciated Matchstick Men. And I just wrote a long post about how much I loved Starsky and Hutch.

[sub][sup]Now I can never show my face in Cafe Society again.[/sub][/sup]

OH no!!! Please don’t mention this movie! I thought I had gotten over it, and then it resurfaces into my harrowed memory…

Back in college, me and a few friends were renting a movie one evening and I kind of suggested this one (as I had heard it was fun, and no one of us had seen it) - but we all hated it immensely, so I got to hear that EVERY SINGLE TIME FOR GOD KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS AFTER!!!

One funny line though:

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Even aside from the midnight movie fun with the odd clothing and audience participation, I once saw this movie on cable (with all the good parts edited out, to boot) and still thought it was hilarious. It’s especially good with the Meat Loaf and Tim Curry music videos by which it is often preceded.

Two Threadspottings In Two Weeks For Me?

Tuba I am not worthy of your munificence.

*and now, back in our regularly scheduled Thread: *

**Clue ** Great little film that is all but forgotten.

**Moon over Parador ** Raul Julia, Sonia Braga and Richard Dreyfuss. What is not to love?

Oh! Oh! I got one that may very well bring this thread to a close! I never saw it until this past year. I was bored, so actually started watching it, intending to find something else in a half-hour. Incredibly, I was enraptured! It was terrible, yet incredibly amusing at the same time. I don’t think I even turned the channel during the commercials. Anyhoo, what am I talking about? Okay, here goes…

Santa With Muscles!

Very Bad Things, I never miss it when it comes on Comedy Central

Footloose, I’m a sucker for 80s musicals

I really enjoy Seems Like Old Times with Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. But one of my all-time favorites has to be Rhinestone with Sylvester Stallone and Dolly Parton. Who’d pass on a chance to watch Rocky sing country music?

I see some of my favs already mentioned:

Tommy Boy - ‘Bees! Your weapons are useless against them!’ I laughed like a hyena by myself in the living room watching that one.

Tank Girl - Mezmerizing in its bizarritude.

Submitted for your approval:

Hardware - Apocalyptic Science fiction, depressing as fuck, starring Dylan McDermott (who gets naked) and with Iggy Pop as Angry Bob, The DJ. I own this movie.

Long ago in this thread I mentioned Knightriders and no one else mentioned it. Come on,am I the only one?

Also, for your enjoyment, I give you Ski School .

Along the lines of Kentucky Fried Movie:

Amazon Women on the Moon. The scene with Ed Bagley Jr. as the Invisible Man is priceless.

Loose Shoes I think I’m one of maybe three people who saw this. Flo and Eddie as bikers. A Fistful of Something, where the Indians (from India) consider the cow and the cowboy sacred. <Star of David> Wars. The best Walking Tall putdown ever. And the title piece, Darktown After Dark, about a political racist quip long forgotten.

I couldn’t read the whole four pages, but has anybody mentioned …
Fletch - Great Chevy Chase flick.
Night of the Comet Cliched, cheesy, campy, this movie has it all, including a very young, hot Elizabeth Shue.
Wizards - Favorite animated flick of all time.
All of the Trinity movies. Spaghetti westerns with a sense of humor

Has “Weird Al” Yankovic’s U.H.F. been mentioned yet?
