The only favorite of mine that’s made it this far without being mentioned is “Electric Dreams”
It’s a romantic comedy about a computer that gains self-awareness and falls in love
I know it sounds like crap…all I can say is…watch it THEN say that

There’s lots of stuff in here that I do agree should be in this catagory but that is besides the point. Here are my entries into the hall of shameful love:
The Ladies Man - “I’m going to go have sex and wait for something random to happen”
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist - If you have seen the movie I only need to mention the scene where they are beating him with sticks. If you haven’t, then see this movie, it’s so much better then anyone would expect.
Sinbad - The new animated one with Brad Pitt doing the lead voice, It has some incredibly beautiful scenes and is just a fun flick.
The Mexican - For some reason people didn’t like this one… it has Brad Pitt singing a song about El Camino’s and julia roberts buddying up with gay hitman cume kidnapper james gandolfini!
The Big Hit - This was a great action movie that pokes fun of itself the entire time
Back To the Future I, II, & III - I liked all three of them, even the second one.
Equalibrium - Because Gun Kata rocks
Ghost Dog - An unappretiated classic
I hope this will turn some people on to some of the great and underated movie
-Luo out to pop some corn
I read this thread for what seems like minutes, and while doing so thinking of films to add at the end.
Imagine my disappointment with the very late calls of “Tremors” and “The Princess Bride”.
I do still have one ace up my sleeve in:
Robin Hood (Men In Tights)
With deference to Marsupial, Galaxy Quest was much more a Star Trek fandom spoof. They portrayed the fandom outlook (and the stars’, too) perfectly!
I saw Ice Pirates last year. It’s a decent enough good-hearted rogue flick. As soon as RinkWorks reopens their submissions for It’s A Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Movie, I have my review ready to send in.
My favorite recent cheesy movie was The Scorpion King. Adventure, historical flaws, and a hot lady in a skimpy outfit, what fun! (I have an IABBBBM review all ready for that movie, too. I rated the movie at 5 out of 5 turkeys!)
For all you Mel Brooks fans, be sure to watch High Anxiety. It’s worth it just for the scene spoofing Psycho. (Plus The Birds, Vertigo, and The Man Who Knew Too Much, among other Hitchcock classics.)
Hey everyone. been lurkin for a couple years and when I saw this thread I just had to register.
Gotta agree—Nate and Hayes, Night of the Comet, ----true classics
but my all time favorite is-------------------------------------
(drum roll please…)
Lust in the Dust
oh------and Yellowbeard
Best swashbuckler ever made
I have it. A great underappreciated Romero flick.
Oh, another film I like, The Stuff, about killer togurt.
Sunspace, what’s the backstory on Rock and Rule? I’d LOVE to know.
Enlighten me, what’s a Sheridan?
“Fritz! They got Fritz! Lousy, stinking, murdering elves! They got Fritz!”
I loved this movie. More people should know it. I just never think of it as a movie that’s considered ‘bad’.
For once, I have a new one for the list: The Three Musketeers, the 1990(?)version with Kieger Sutherland, Oliver Platt, and Charlie Sheen, and Chris O’Donnell as D’Artagnan. OK, so it’s main resemblance to the book is in the title. It’s got really cool fencing, really cool weapons, really fun lines, and really nice-looking fellows. It’s one of the reasons I took up fencing in the first place.

OK, let’s see if I can remeber my seconds without paging back:
Ishtar, IMO, is one of the great all-time comedy films, despite a rather slow middle. I once dragged two friends to see during its initial run and wouldn’t let them leave even though we were the only ones in the theater. Paul William’s intentionally bad lyrics at the beginning are worth the price of admission.
Clue is a great one too. Put me down for Tremors as well.
Idle Hands, while not great, features one of the flat-out best feature-length pieces of physical comedy ever performed, by the kid with the possessed hand. Ranks right up there with All of Me, another favorite.
Back in the early 80s, when video rental was a new thing in my Boston suburb, for reasons I can not fathom, I rented Warrior of the Lost World about five times. Yes, about 10 years before MST3K!
And no mention of guilty pleasures is complete without the inspired Bobcat Goldthwaite vehicle (which also contains the only Adam Sandler performance I’ve ever liked) Shakes the Clown.
Clowns drowning their sorrows at The Twisted Balloon bar, then going out to beat up on mimes! What’s not to like?
“The Incredible Mr. Limpett”. “The best, Jerry…The BEST!”
Blarney and also EvilAsh and Chaniel Dubb Foundation: You have definitely come to the right bulletin board. Hope you will stick around and maybe even subscribe.
Movies I like so much I don’t even know if I’m supposed to be ashamed: Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. FYI for those who have mentioned Fandango: it’s a cult classic among sky divers.
How could I have forgotten The Warriors? Such cheesy goodness.
Field of Dreams–I know it oozes manipulative sentimentality, but many of my earliest memories of my father involve watching or playing baseball together.
The Hulk–I just love watching the huge green guy smashing up tanks and planes!
Return to Savage Beach–I can’t take my eyes off Shae Marks in that one. I know, I know. :o
Time Bandits – I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid.
Real Genius – Almost as quotable as “The Princess Bride.”
Dune – the 1984 theatrical version by Frank Herbert. What a mess, but it’s a great-looking mess with lots of atmosphere. I still can’t believe I own the DVD.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence – This movie really polarized a lot of viewers. I was in the camp that liked it a lot.
Unbreakable – Like “A.I.”, this movie seemed to really split the viewers. Like “A.I.”, I was in the apparent minority of viewers who liked it. Except for that scene with the kid and the gun. That was bad. PAINFUL bad.
The Black Stallion – I’ve never been into horses. I’ve never even watched a horse race, except for the occasional one where there might a be a Triple Crown winner. This movie I liked a lot as a kid, and still do today, especially since there is a forty-minute or so stretch where there is absolutely no dialogue. For a young deaf kid that often struggled to figure out the dialogue of movies in the days before widespread closed captions, that was pretty cool.
There’s Something About Mary – It’s silly, stupid, and juvenile. But rarely have I laughed harder in the movie theater.
The Last Action Hero – I’m going to own this movie on DVD someday. Seriously.
Joe vs. the Volcano – The first time I saw this movie, I hated it. HATED IT. Then, for some reason, I saw it a second time. It grew on me real quick. I guess I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when I saw it the first time.
I don’t like Armageddon…but I’m oddly attached to it. My first year of University, my roomate and I had just a Tv/VCR comba, no television reception or cabel, and a limited collection of movies. Armageddon was the one I always ended up throwing in so I’d have background noise while I played on the computer, which led to me having “seen” it dozens upon dozens of times.
I started to feel really bad for the 8th guy, and tried to gather every detail about him that was offered. Which amounts to next to nothing. He has tatoos and delivers one of his two lines with an accent. And he probably died when the first rocket crashed, although Ben Affleck didn’t bother to check.
… Freddy Noonan, we hardly knew ye…
deep breath Ok, I can do this!
I like, nay, greatly enjoy, Conspiracy Theory. Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts just work in this movie. Especially Mel - (from IMBD, possibly inaccurate) “What do we know?! If I know what we know then I could tell you what we know and if anyone else knows!”
I enjoy all of Michael Bay’s movies. So much angst towards such a great director.
Bad Boys - great
Bad Boys 2 - awesome
Armageddon - excellent, one of my all time favorites
The Rock - ditto
Pearl Harbor - good stuff
Another movie that I enjoyed: Super Troopers - I thought this would be a stinker before watching it, but damn, it was funnier than I could have possibly imagined.
Elizabeth Shue wasn’t in Night of the Comet. Are you thinking of Catherine Mary Stewart (who does resemble her slightly)?
I’m not ashamed to admit that I like Love at First Bite.
I’m also not ashamed to admit that I like most 60s-era Annette Funicello/Frankie Avalon beach movies. My favorite is Beach Blanket Bingo. My favorite character is Eric Von Zipper.
