Gawd, what a horrific mess of a movie that was.
Parts were fun though.

Road House, which was nominated for five Golden Raspberries: Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor (Ben Gazzara), Worst Director and Worst Screenplay. But I watch it every time it comes around on the cable.
“Pain don’t hurt!”
One more vote for Hudson Hawk. This is my answer every single time this topic comes up.
Wow, lots o0f good ones in this thread.
Here’s mine:
Hackers
Chronicles of Riddick
Sphere
Spinners
Ooh, two Catherine Mary Stuart moves! Never saw World Gone Wild, now I’ll have to be on the lookout for it. Night of the Comet is one of my yearly Christmas-season movies.
Night of the Comet has Mary Woronov. Mary Woronov can do no wrong. Quentin Tarantino is our self-anointed interpreter of all things 1970’s junk culture, but chooses to acknowledge only the junk that took itself dead seriously. Mary Woronov’s career shows how intelligent people in the 1970’s recognized what a laughably fucked up era it was.
Anybody who can star in something as twisted as Eating Raoul can’t be all bad!
Ditto 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow. The scenes were phenomenal. I also like Titanic because of the scenes, not the Jack/Rose romance.
The Village. The main complaint against it seemed to be that it copied a children’s series (Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix) but it was a good psychological puzzle.
The Faculty. Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets The Breakfast Club.
Hackers. It had style.
Natural Born Killers
NBK Directors cut is an excellent film.Rodney Dangerfield was wonderfully evil playing against type.
2010
and
The Dark Crystal
Craptacular Muppets!
I’m amazed that no one has mentioned Highlander yet. A lot of the acting was stiff and it’s cheesy as hell, but I can’t help but love it. It’s definitely not “so bad it’s good,” more “good despite its badness.”
Others have mentioned it, yours was just the lowest on my CTRL-F ![]()
Roadhouse is pretty terrible, but Andy’s reenactment on Parks and Recreation is one of the greatest things ever.
“Takes the esophagus out of the neck area…you can’t eat. You’ll starve to death. And that…is Roadhouse.”

Wait a minute! Let’s get something straight here: Highlander was a good damn movie. Any sequel that followed after that was phenomenally bad.
OK, I’ll say it: Reign of Fire. Dragons vs. tanks. Pre-Batman Christian Bale. Matthew McConaughey with a bald pate, leaving teeth marks all over the scenery. A then-unknown Gerard Butler. So much deadpan silliness, and the whole deal concerning the dragons’ life cycle and eating habits makes no sense whatever, but they nevertheless are utterly terrifying whenever they appear.
It was a good movie, but it really was pretty corny at parts. Maybe it doesn’t deserve to be part of this thread, but having watched it again recently, there’s some seriously goofy stuff in it.
I’d add:
-“Chariots of Fire”-I watch this as a cure for insomnia
-“Tarzan” (Richard Harris screaming)
-“The Green Berets”-the Vietnam War was SO much fun!
I just bought * My Chauffeur* a few months ago and I am still planning to buy DVDs of both Spacecamp and Solarbabies so I can watch with my daughter.
Alas, I have never seen nor found any copies of * Voyage of the Rock Aliens* but I would watch it if I could, and I just bought * Blue DeVille* for my sister for Christmas. A more common one, and I really should know better considering what I do for a living G.I. Jane.
Mom and Dad Save the World. I don’t know why I like it.
Coneheads. Same thing.
Maybe because these two run on cable all the time.
I had Better Off Dead, Get Crazy, and Night of the Comet on the same VHS tape I recorded in the mid-80’s. Good thing I used good tapes.
It was my Christmas tape I watched every holiday season, and I kept it until 2005-6 when I finally gave up VCRs and had digital copies. Had to buy two copies of *Get Crazy *on Ebay on VHS before I had a good copy to rip. It’s still not available on DVD, but you can stream it.
I haven’t seen My Chauffeur in decades, but I have a bad feeling I won’t enjoy it as much as I did in my late teens. I think my testosterone clouded my opinion of that movie. ![]()
Solarbabies - never saw the whole thing. Started to watch it when it first came to HBO, but it didn’t grab me. Can’t for the life of me remember much about it.
