Bah. The coding gods have cursed me again.

It’s okay. I forgot to add The Usual Suspects.

The Princess Bride
Empire Records (It’s Rex Manning Day!)
Dr. Strangelove
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 Shorts Vol. 1&2 (Not quite movies, but definitely about movies.)
Friday
Am I really the only person who knows every line of The Breakfast Club? Including the cheesy edits for network TV?

The Sound of Music
The Lion King

and
A Bug’s Life

**Tommy Boy

Me, Myself, and Irene

Road Trip**

American Beauty
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Alll of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movies
So, I Married an Axe-Murderer
Gross Pointe Blank
The Breakfast Club
Needful Things
The Shining

There are probably more, and they are probably comedy or horror.

The king of these movies is Fargo - My best friend and I actually made a pilgrimage to Fargo in the dead of winter. After seeing it twenty odd times we set out from Massachusetts to Fargo, Minneapolis and of course Brainerd. Saw Babe the Blue Ox. Unfortunately we didn’t find some of the other landmarks. It was as much as twenty below zero at the time so most all the time was spent in the car. I can still recite the movie almost word for word.

Also in that category but not nearly as extreme are:

Once Were Warriors
Usual Suspects
Cool Hand Luke
Bridge on the River Kwai
All the other Coen Brothers movies

The Lion in Winter
The Goodbye Girl
LadyHawke
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Jungle Book (animated)
Desk Set
Harvey
Bull Durham
Summertime
Philadelphia Story
Robin and Marian

Of the more current movies, I’d watch ** American Beauty, The Usual Suspects** and ** L.A. Confidential** enough to learn them by heart. Gee, I wonder what they all have in common?

Searching for Bobby Fischer
Say Anything
Pleasantville
The Shawshank Redemption

Star Wars
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Mystery Men
Airplane

The Wizard of Oz

Becket

There’s a story to that last one. This movie came out when I was in my teens and I saw it a number of times. Eventually, when it made it to TV, I recorded the audio on reel-to-reel tape (this was WAY before VCRs) and listened to it many, many times.

Excalibur

Blade Runner
