Clue
Big Trouble in Little China
They Live
Rounders
Anchorman (strangely, I hate almost all other Will Ferrell movies)
I’m always pleasantly surprised when I’m channel surfing and happen to land on Local Hero. Especially late at night or overnight.
Godfather 2, mostly for the De Niro scenes.
If you like Session 9, I’d suggest you check out this site–it’s a truly amazing urban exploration site that includes an extensive photoshoot of the real abandoned Danvers Hospital, where the movie was filmed. I found out about the movie through the site and had to watch it just to see more of the place. Creepy.
The only movie I would have as just background would be Bride & Prejudice. I often pop it only while I’m doing the dishes. The story isn’t deep, its colourful & I like the soundtrack.
& it has Martin Henderson!
I work in Wells in Somerset (UK) where they filmed Hot Fuzz.
Wicked to see so many familiar scenes in the movie including the very hotel reception where I installed a PC and printer.
Saw Nick Frost in the police car and the old lady on the bike with her pistols being filmed.
The Shawshank Redemption
Braveheart
Lonesome Dove
Apollo 13
Casablanca
Cool Hand Luke
Dances with Wolves
Fargo
Full Metal Jacket
Gladiator
Hidalgo
It’s a Wonderful Life
Jeremiah Johnson
Lawrence of Arabia
Midway
Mr. Holland’s Opus
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Patton
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler’s List
Superman Returns
Only one mention for Zulu so far, but I have to chime in to support it.
Could well get an Oscar for the Blokiest Movie of All Time. Michael Caine was sensational.
Colour Sergeant Bourne and his line “Cause we’re here lad…”
And the sing off between the Welsh and the Africans - bloody fantastic.
I am compelled to see it whenever its on.
Whawhawhat!?!? You watch Jaws and don’t stick around for Robert Shaw’s great performance?
I also watch the Fifth Element and Aliens. I’ll throw in:
Roadie (1970’s movie with Meat Loaf)
Office Space
Big Trouble in Little China
They Live
If I like a movie, I’ll watch it over and over, but these are some of my favorites.
Doctor Zhivago
Breakfast at Tiffanys
Fanny and Alexander
Rancho Deluxe
Hot Fuzz.
Unless I’ve got a new movie to watch or new CDs to import, Disc 1 of the 3 disc special edition stays in my computer’s disc drive. I start the movie before I go to bed; the next night I start it from the last point I remember seeing. Every now and then Mirrormask replaces Hot Fuzz as the keep-in-player disc, and Shaun of the Dead gets at least one monthly viewing, but I always come back to Hot Fuzz.
Awesome link; thanks! I’ve read quite a bit about Danvers but those photos are spectacular. The oddest part is seeing the apartments they’ve turned it into. I’d love to see it in person but I would *not *want to live there:eek:
I couldn’t count how many times over the past 60 years I have watched
Shane
The Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn)
**The Adventures of Don Juan **(Errol Flynn)
Zulu
The Black Stallion
**Alice In Wonderland **(Walt Disney)
If I chance across one of these while I am flicking through the TV channels, I have to stop and watch it to the end.
The Empire Strikes Back
Boogie Nights
Local Hero
The Commitments
Moulin Rouge!
and American Movie Classics has been showing the American movie classic Roadhouse every two days lately, and I have to admit to watching that more times than I can count as well …
I personally watch Kung Fu Hustle, Monsters Inc., and Spirited Away to an obsessive degree.
The Princess Bride should probably be in there as well (and for my folks it is** Blazing Saddles**).
Rebecca
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Pride and Prejudice (both the Colin Firth miniseries and the older Elizabeth Garvey one)
Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thompson)
Persuasion (Amanda Root)
Gosford Park
Office Space
The Ninth Gate
Smiley’s People
Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy
A Very Long Engagement
The first two Harry Potter movies
Nashville
Thunderheart
From dusk till dawn.
No love for Magnolia ?
Heathers
Blue Velvet
Wings of Desire
This goes for me too. I love all three of the films.

The number of times I’ve seen the animated Transformers movie is somewhere in the low triple digits.
