flyboy It sounds like your inconvenient bladder actually did you a favor. Good luck with the data. There’s always something with data files.
I got your deluge! This make me happy. It’s windy and very wet. I think we’re getting a bunch of snow in the Sierras too. There’s supposed to be more rain later this week. Every bit helps.
That’s some Purgatory time right there.
BooFae Have fun exploring!
I know about my neighbors, but I don’t know names. Now I have an irrational worry about my security clearance.
I took Akiko’s cone of shame off. So far she’s being a very good girl, and I may be able to leave it off. My sister picked up Roscoe last night and my parents should be home tomorrow. My pet sitting duties are almost done. Daisy (parents’ dog) is being very quiet today. I hope she’s ok.
I need to figure out dinner. Unrelated, I think I’ve had too much coffee. I don’t know about anyone else, but one minute I want more coffee and the next I feel like I’ve put my finger in a light socket. Boo.
It was supposed to snow here last night but all it did was rain a lot.
We got rid of my two computer desks last night. One was one of those ‘particle board w/ laminate you put it together yourself’ things that I didn’t care about. The other one was a sturdy corner unit that I’d used for over 20 years. it had a metal base and plasticey covered work surfaces and I wished I had a place for it in the new house. Anyway, we put them up for ‘free to a good home’ on the local ‘buy-sell-trade’ website and they were outta here in 3 hours.
I was supposed to drive a truck load back to the new house tomorrow, but this place still looks like a couple of hoarders lived here, so I ain’t going for a few days yet. "Sides, there is supposed to be snow in the pass until Friday, and I’d have to go up the Gorge instead. An extra 30+ miles.
Anyway, today I’m going to Fred Meyers to gas up the truck and get a few things and then back to sorting crap.
The only other thing I have to do is get my oil changed on Wed. I should try to get in to see my eye doctor and my dentist, but I’ll worry about that later.
Well, that was interesting. I called the company that supposedly insures the bus that was involved in the accident - they have no record of that vehicle or that owner. I just texted her and if I don’t get the right info, I’ll be going to the Sheriff since it’s what’s on their report. Maybe they messed up, maybe not, but I don’t plan to be the one getting screwed.
Dammit.
Weenies for supper. That’s all I can manage today. Maybe some steak fries in the air fryer.
My neighbor when I moved into this house was a single elderly fella. It turned out that I know his son fairly well, he runs the local cool beer store. The dad passed about 2 years after I got here, and his grandson moved in. Eventually he married a girl who grew up in the house across the street, and they now have 4 kids, ages 11-2. Her parents still live there. Much running back and forth. Fortunately, it’s a fairly quiet street.
On the other side, the house was empty for years and years. I think there was a family squabble about inheritance. I did have to complain to the town that the lawn was becoming a meadow one year. Ir had gotten about 3 feet tall and there were critters living in it. An old dude moved in 3 years ago. He got a Covid puppy who has separation issues, I can hear him barking a lot.
But the big news…I got paid for my project. And it’s all in dumpsters.
Ha! Set is in dumpsters, pay is in the bank. I just find it crazy that these people will pay all that money for a 1 night event and then just throw everything away. I’m thinking, so this is a fund raiser, couldn’t you just, yanno, donate that money to yourselves? I’m glad they didn’t, cuz I’m good for like 6 months.
Moooooom, you could just snap pics of your vaccine card and first page of the passport on your phone. I use the snapped pic of my card to go places that require it.
Yay for being paid VanGo!
My newest neighbor (next door) has been here for about a month and a half, but I knew him from about 4.5 years ago when he lived in the next building. His dog Sully is a couple of months younger than Nelson and they met as puppies. Most of the rest of the neighbors, I know from being out with the dogs: the dad (and when they were here, the mom and girls, the dogs Molly and Jim), Matt three doors down (he gives Nelson skritches), the other Matt in building 12 (we get each other’s packages and mail) Ann in the next building (and Nelson’s girlfriends, Charlie and Della), Kim in the apartment that backs up to mine, Johnny in building 9 (and his boxer Faith) and Mr. Don in building in building 7 (and his dachshund - beagle mix Trixie). Most of us have been here for a couple of years or longer. so we see each other outside.
Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. After KP, I’ll continue a project in the studio.
Afternoon all. Noodled about after banking/shopping/eating until after 1pm, then finally went to the gym and got my 1,500 yards of backstroking in. The pool was rather murky, the guy who takes care of it said it was fine to swim in, so I did and feel just fine. The soccer fields have been closed due to the rain today, but I might get out there and do my evening walk anyway. My weight has been going down even without changing my eating habits, so i guess the exercise is doing me some good.
VanGo, people can be weird with money. Glad you made a good profit from it.
I just make a weekly menu every Sunday for the coming week; I’m pretty boring when it comes to meals, so it doesn’t change very much.
FCM, stay after them, sounds like someone would like to sweep this under the rug (or under the bus).
Sunny, hope Akiko keeps behaving and won;t need to Cone of Shame again.
Sari, hope treatment for Mom goes well.
Wheelie, sounds like some nice neighbors you’ve got. Enjoy the ball game (you might get in free, but buy a couple hot dogs and a pretzel and beer and tell us how much it costs you).
talkie, glad you and daughter-unit had such a good time together. Sunday is my sloth day usually (unless I need to mow the lawn).
OK, I think I’m going to get that walk in before dinner. All y’all take care.
Howdy Y’all! Da cave got spiffed, sup got cooked and et, the kitchen got cleanded up. Also I wrote up the Vestry meetin’ minutes and sent them to the Senior Warden to look over. Glad I did that while I could still make out my serial killer handwritin’. OYKW drug a bunch of stuff out of the storage buildin’ today. It’s his stuff and he swears he is goin’ to go through it all and judo, karate, taekwondo or whatever it is you do when you do the toss or keep stuff thing. Anywho it is all on the back porch.
I always thought that it was doctors’ handwriting that was terrible. This explains a lot.
I think the rain is over for now. I’m waiting for folks to come home tonight. I think it will be later than they have told me. Fortunately I have known them my entire life, and I am unsurprised by this.
I have heard troubling tales of my dad at the wedding this past weekend, so my sister and I will be having a Difficult Conversation with the folks this weekend. The short version is that he was unable to stand without 2 people helping. Even worse, he started talking to my niece about how our family had superior blood to [other family] that married my uncle and [other family] that married my cousin. Something else happened that I am unclear on, and now my sister doesn’t want her daughters alone with him.
And here I was gonna kvetch about losing both my days off this week (I mean, they pay me an’ stuff, but I would like some time to myself, yanno) but your stuff sounds bigger than my stuff.
Especially ‘cuz we’re scrambling to cover for 1a.) girl who got fired this morning (reasons given vary depending on who’s talking, of course) and 2b.) guy who said he “quit drinking” but showed up a coupla times recently (like I give a $%!@, he’s still mostly doing 3 people’s worth of work most days) but in completely unrelated news he had a friggin’ heart attack the other day.
Still have not seen the neighbors, their feral kid, or their dog. But Gordie has smelled that there is something peeing on his bushes. And dinner tonight was cheeseburger with pepperjack cheese and I made an aioli with taco sauce, Duke’s and cayenne pepper.
That sucks.
This. I understand that event make it more “real” to donors than just online donations, but still. But good for getting paid.
The KonMari Method encourages people to get rid of items that no longer have a purpose (or no longer “spark joy”) and keep items that are purposeful and meaningful . It’s a rather rigid method that might not be for everyone.Oct 29, 2020
And now I’m standing on the side of the road with my Keurig, Bennington coffee mugs, a bag of library books and shoeboxes of my kid’s baby pictures.
My iPad tucked securely under my arm so I can stay in touch with my Mumper friends~they definitely bring joy. Oh, and one royally pissed off Siamese in a cat carrier, spitting mad.
