"Moyen 1er degré" on a French transcript?

Next to all of my classes on an old French transcript it says “Moyen 1er degré.” Is that level of the classes I was in? Like, first level?

Yes, this is basically the level of your award - your first degree (as opposed to 2nd, 3rd or Superior degrees under the French system).

You earned a degree in France and don’t speak French?

Is it just “moyen 1er degré” or “COURS moyen 1er degré”?

If the latter, it could mean 4th grade.

Cours préparatoire = 1st grade
Cours élémentaire = 2nd and 3rd grade
Cours moyen = 4th and 5th grade, divided in Cours moyen 1 and Cours moyen 2. I assume that someone could use “Cours moyen 1er degré” instead of “Cours moyen 1”, though that would be unusual.
“Degré” isn’t normally used to mean “degree” in French, so, I’m at a loss to answer. Maybe a little more informations about the classes, the kind of document, etc… could help

I studied philosophy in French, but I still often don’t understand official education/government jargon.
