Mozilla: Saving Web Images

      • How the F*$& do you do this in Mozilla? In IE, you right click on the image, and one of the menu choices is “save picture as”. I can’t find any similar function in Mozilla (5), and saving it as anything else results in some mysterious, unopenable non-standard file. - DougC

What version of mozilla are you running. In at least the latest (0.9.9) when I right click on a image I have an option to “Save Image (imagename.gif)”

Maybe you should try downloading a new version. 0.9.9 is great and has tabbed browsing and a built-in option to prevent pop-up’s

      • Okay, more specifically: on normal images (such as the “THE STRAIGHT DOPE” banner at top), an option to “save image” is present, but not when trying to save images of maps on MapQuest (-and this is the problem; this is why I noticed…). -I don’t use the MapQUest “print map” feature, because it sucks. It prints a bunch of other crap I don’t want along with the map, and even then doesn’t print the map the way I want it. I just import the saved map images into a graphics editor and then I can reduce or enlarge the map, or print several progressively more detailed maps on one page.
  • IE has no problem with saving the maps, but Mozilla 5 just saves a blank frame with a src to the asp… somebody try it Mozilla 6 and let me know what happens. It will be a few days before I can download the newer version anyway. - DougC

Mozilla 0.9.9 seems to work fine using the normal right click – it saves the map image as mqmapgend.gif, and I can then bring the map gif directly into Lview without any trouble.
