Is there a MP3 player I can purchase for my car? Something with a large portable hard drive that I can remove & connect to my computer? There seems to be many portables but I am looking for an in dash unit.Being based in Thailand, we cannot feep up with the latest electronics.
That’s a good one to start at.
The famous Drs. Damage and Evil of the Tech Report have recently been drawn to in-dash MP3 players. However, I do not think either of these will meet your requirement for a hard drive:
The first two rely on CD-R technology, which is a recordable CD. The neat part about them is with MP3 compression, you can cram over a dozen albums on one CD-R. The bad part is you have to burn your own CD-Rs.
The third is a bit of a whacko. It is an MP3 player designed to fit into a tape deck. Pretty flash, but it has its limitations.
I have yet to see a platter-based MP3 player for an automobile, but I bet they’re on the way.
Actually, Sofa, the Xeenon Shuttle II, which is where your link is pointing to, is exactly what the OP was looking for. Removeable hard disk for the car with a mounting bay for your PC, so you can copy your songs right to the disk. Hard disk sold separately…

mp3Car has mobile mp3 solutions, such as mp3 Discmen, whereas mp3kit is a removable hard drive that plugs into a line in in a good head unit.
