Why mess with it? And if you must change it, at least do something a bit more creative than just dropping a couple initials.
How about Rio?

“Just Stuff” would do.
I don’t care what the name of the forum is, but can posters stop putting MPSIMS crap in the Pit? Please? Bonus if the mods could bother to move threads (and/or) warn habitual abusers.
Stuff I Must Share
I’m happy with **Stuff I Must Share ** or The Water Cooler though I will say the one drawback to The Water Cooler is that the phrase was often associated with talking about things that go in The Café.
Nice, if you keep the “Stuff I Must Share”. Descriptive, doesn’t belittle the content, and keeps the acronym the same.
I vote to keep it the way it is.
I’d vote to keep it the way it is. If that won’t work, then just drop the MP. We all know it’s the place to put whatever you just want to tell people. It’s had all kinds of posts in it, from weird to happy to sad to very serious, from the very beginning.
I agree with the idea that The Water Cooler might eventually get a bit confused with Cafe Society stuff.
Since so many people like Water Cooler, we should change Cafe Society to that. Change MPSIMS to Stuff I Must Share. Change Great Debates to Politics and Religion(because people want a politics forum.) Then everything would be perfect. Or not.
MPSIMS for me. I don’t think about the word mundane or pointless. In my mind its just Mip-sims.
I would keep it the same.
The epithets “mundane” and “pointless” encourage, I think, posters to be more bold in their OPs. If it’s just “stuff I must share,” some of the newer or shyer posters might hesitate before starting up a thread that they fear might be too mundane. We therefore miss out on opportunities for enlightening discussions. The first two words are a reminder that it’s a somewhat safe forum, and no one is going to upbraid you for posting small potatoes. I too chafe at it sometimes when someone announces something grave and important; but I think that the benefit we reap far outweighs that occasional discomfort.
I like the present name and vote to keep it. But that’s not to say I would be put out if it were changed. Good luck coming up with something that satisfies everyone!
Honestly, I think anyone who is considering starting a thread need only look at the topics on the first page of the forum to understand exactly how miscellaneous it is. And this assumes, of course, that the user has no familiarity with the forum whatsoever. Example threads currently on the first page include: “Warm Fuzzies,” “Quick! I need a good riddle” and “I am the clumsiest person I know.” I honestly don’t think removing those words from the forum title is going to cost us much, if anything.
On the other hand, if I’m a new poster and see the words “mundane” and “pointless,” I think I’d be less inclined to post something I think is profound only to me. What might we be missing out on by including those words?
I’ll put a half vote behind “The Water Cooler.”
I understand where LHoD is coming from with disliking the words “mundane” and “pointless.” I just can’t get very excited about it. SIMS just rubs me the wrong way - a adjustment that calls more attention to what’s been removed than leaving the initials in place would have.
Vote to keep it the way it is.
Life and death are mundane and pointless. Keep it.
Miscellaneous Peripheral Stuff I Must Share?
I’m for this idea. Another vote for keeping it MPSIMS, whatever that may come to stand for.
Life, The Universe and Everything?
That gets my vote.
