Well, pop includes more than the Beatles. He also wrote Badfinger’s hits, and Peter and Gordon’s, and probably other people’s. For all I know he’s Prince.
But the rest of the world put together has written considerable pop music, too, so I only give Macca credit for half.

Well, since he released Memory Almost Full two weeks before he turned 65, I guess he expected the answer to be “yes, of course.”

I once said that he’s a smarmy, gladhanding butthole. Having said that, I still recognize that in his day, he was a phenomenal musician and songwriter. Not only that, he doesn’t seem to be hurting anybody, so I reckon we can let him live, for now.
