Sorry. My Error.
Ollie is Elliot’s co-worker at Allsafe, and Angela’s boyfriend (or ex).
Note that “Tyrell” is even closer to being an anagram for “Elliot”–both are six-letter names with four letters in common. The “ell” part is at opposite ends; is this an indication that Tyrell is Elliot’s opposite?
But only Sam Esmail knows what he was up to with those names, I guess.
It’s going to be hard to wait a year, or whatever the hiatus-interval will be. (I glanced at the IMDb message board for the show, hoping that someone might have posted the month in 2016 when the show will be back, but it’s far too fast-moving a board to make it worth while doing even so much as reading the thread titles.)
I hope when the show comes back, there will be some attention given to disclosing what the heck is medically wrong with Elliot. Are we supposed to assume that he’s having blackouts and seeing hallucinations solely because of his drug use, or what?
Exactly what I was thinking during her scene. Looking at her IMDB page she looks a lot like Angelina Jolie. I’d like to see her in more acting roles; she was probably the shrewdest most conniving character on this show.
I really enjoyed her Lady MacBeth moment, washing the dishes.
She reminds me of someone I know in real life, who is both outstandingly physically attractive and utterly evil. Seriously the nastiest woman I’ve ever met. So that character gave me the creeps from the outset.
I liked it. It makes sense that everything wouldn’t change immediately. And despite FSociety wiping the slate clean, the super rich might find a way to take back control. I loved the scene with FSociety burning the computers, then releasing the dogs in the cages, showing how they might be well-intentioned but don’t really have long term plans. And how Darlene was the only one happy at the party.
The music is always pretty great, this episode especially. The ODB song, the punk song when FSociety was burning the computers, the carnival type music when Elliot is looking for Tyrell at Evil Corp, and the harpist playing “Nearer My God to Thee”, the song that apparently played while the Titanic sank. All amazing.
No idea, but I googled “Elliot computer” to see if there was anything relevant, and there was an Elliot Brothers computer company. It was an early London computer company, here are some pictures of a computer being delivered. Probably not relevant, unless there’s something in future seasons about Elliot being one of the first of his kind and surpassed by others.
I would be surprised if they got too specific on his precise diagnosis, but I don’t think it’s because of his drug use. I think probably he has some combination of mental illness and trauma from an abusive mother and a father dying young, and the drug use was to self medicate from that.
Yeah, in her scene with Elliot this episode I thought she looked a lot like Angelina Jolie. I hope we see her again. Apparently what she said in Danish was something like “if you did anything to him I will kill you”, so if it turns out that Mr. Robot did kill Tyrell, then we probably will see her.
Speaking of Tyrell, do y’all think that he was behind the mask in the video? I thought it looked like lighter colored eyes, compared to Elliot’s darker eyes, but I’ve seen other people online say that it was Elliot.
I feel so old, I had no idea the F is for free.
Yes, that’s exactly what I thought, and they were zooming right in on the eyes to make it obvious.
I always assumed it was for fuck.
Can’t it be both?
After Elliot got hit in the eye he really reminded me of Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstain.
I just saw this article about the visual look of the show, it’s interesting. They put a lot of thought into things.
Also, after thinking of it more, what was Mr. Robot’s plan for Tyrell? Tyrell was interested in Elliot/Mr. Robot because Elliot seemed like he could be useful to Tyrell. I was guessing that Tyrell went to see Elliot in the last episode so that Evil Corp would be destroyed and so Tyrell could figure out a way to come out on top. But I’m not sure what Mr. Robot was using Tyrell for. In the meeting they had in the 8th episode, it seemed like they were working together on something, but I don’t remember how specific it was.
Huh I assumed they were speaking the same language, if they are both trilingual why would they switch up the languages?
Danish and Swedish (and Norwegian) are all mutually intelligible. So the characters (and actors presumably) are speaking the language they grew up speaking and is easiest for them to speak, but they can understand the other easily. It’s easier to understand a language than to speak it.
There are some very interesting clues that have been given out during this first season.
As to what these clues were about? I have no idea.
But, Tyrell’s wife seems to be reminiscing about another child she had. Remember when she said, “I had no idea it would ever be possible for me to love someone else as much as I loved her”? Sorry. But I can’t remember what the gender was of the her previous love or what the gender is of her new born baby. But why would the Producer/Director throw that info out to us without ever making it clear what it was about?
However, it certainly does seem like it will be important at some time in the future.
Also, remember when Mr. Robot (or at least the character played by Christian Slater) tells Elliot, “She’s not there anymore.” I would guess that has to be a reference to Elliot’s mother. So, I would think part of the reason that Elliot is seeing a shrink is because he may have suffered some abuse from his mother. It also may play into the reason (or a part of the reason) why Elliot destroyed that coffee shop owner named, “Ron” in the opening episode. I’d really like to know just what the story is about Elliot and his mother.
After watching the episodes for the third time (just casually watching them), it seems to me there are a few other clues that would be very interesting to discuss.
Does anyone remember any other clues or info that would help to solve some of the many other unanswered questions?
What was Tyrells odd comment about god being a higher power about after meeting with Mr Robot(Elliot) in his car?
Tyrell and his wife seem psychotically devoted to rising up in E corp, far more than even usually driven people. Are they really just power and money hungry or is there more to this, especially the wife.
The wife is so very bizarre in that regard because she has no connection to E-corp except thru her husband. But she is willing to dump him almost immediately.
How in the world would she be able to get any access to E-corp without her husband? That is a most perplexing question. She would be totally shut out unless she has something up her sleeve. Or maybe she has her eye on some other executive there? Her hubbie was the VP of Technology. It would be difficult for her to rise any higher than that given that she is not even employed by them or related to anyone who is employed by them.
I think Tyrell was in that last video because when it was Elliott-as-his-dead-father-but-we-didn’t-know-that, it CLEARLY was Christian Slater doing the voice. The voice sounded like Tyrell and we know he really did exist at some point because of his interactions with other people.
Wow i have been DIGGING This show. I think it was meant to be Tyrell in the appearance of MaskMan in the finale. I also think there is a deeper connection between Elliott and Tyrell than we have been shown. I sort of wonder if the wife spoke Danish to Eliot as a test. Does THIS personality understand? I shall destroy you if you have harmed the aspect i love. No? Moving on. …
I found the scene with the wife and the baby extremely creepy. I think there are a lot of clues there. I’m all agog for the new season.
The Mr Robot persona seems very unlike what we have seen of Elliots father in the form of the flashback and photos, the one of him and Elliot dressed as Doc and Marty for example.
Just seems odd is all.
Why is Darlene never present in any flashback, who raised her? We did see her in the wd induced hallucination though.
