"Ms. Elizabeth" is dead!

And I thought this thread was going to be about Queen Elizabeth…

Holy crap a lot of wrestlers have died since the 90s. :frowning:

**

It was a publicity stunt. He’s alive.

Ah, okay. That’s a scary amount of information, by the way. Gah. And yeah, Battousai, a LOT of these wrestlers are dying - mostly of drugs. Probably a TV special about pro wrestling culture in there someplace…

I remember Ms. Elizabeth from the days when my brothers watched Saturday morning wrestling and promptly put me in a headlock. She always seemed like a nice lady to me. Wasn’t her relationship with Randy Savage somewhat abusive, if not mentally, then emotionally?

The Ultimate Warrior’s alive and well. He has his own website where he writes articles. To read them, you’d think he was tripping on acid but no… he’s really just that weird.

Rick Rude did die from an overdose back about four years ago. I can’t remember from what; Yokozuna and Pillman both died of overdoses as well; and if I remember right, Bravo was murdered by members of the Canadian Black Market.

:frowning:

She was a class act and the majority of women in wrestling could learn a lesson from her.

No thongs, no layouts in Playboy - always a lady.

*"…and then, in another one of those famous moments, Liz hops up on the ring apron and rips off her skirt. Don’t panic, she’s wearing bikini bottoms underneath. The Megabucks stand agog and the Megapowers attack. Hogan slams DiBiase, Savage nails the big elbow, and Hogan legdrops him, and Ventura makes a very reluctant count for the Megapowers win. **3/4

Liz had great legs back then, but she’s much better overall these days"*[/nitpick]

Anyone have links to all these wrestler deaths? After the Ultimate Warrior Urban Legend/Publicity stunt floating around for so many years I’m wary of wrestler deaths that I don’t hear about. Especially big names like Yokozuna and Rick Rude.

I really liked Miss Elizabeth. I, too, thought she was a refreshingly classy and naturally pretty addition to the then WWF.

Cisco, I can’t provide links right now, because Google is being a whoremaster, but all of the named wrestlers (Owen Hart, Davy Boy Smith, Yokozuna; and with the exception of the Ultimate Jackass) are actually deceased. The WWE had the traditional tolling of the bells before the beginning of RAW for each of them, IIRC, and also had a closing RIP message. They wouldn’t have done this if the deaths were not legit.

Erm, that smilie is supposed to be a saddie.

Biotop: Yokozuna passed away in Liverpool, UK while on a tour.

Aesiron: I’ve never heard any mention of drugs being involved in Yokozuna’s death. It was originally thought to have been caused by a heart attack, but the official cause of death was fluid on the lungs. I’d say that his weight would be a major factor in his death at such a young age.

Pillman died in his sleep, the cause of death being an heart attack. While he did abuse pain killers (he had been seriously injured in a car accident a year or so before he died), I seem to remember that it was caused by a congenital heart defect.

Deaths in the last 10 years … several have been mentioned already, The full list is on this page. I added some information and took out some of the lesser know guys.

Also, several of those listed as “Heart Attack” were heavily suspected to be drug related (Eddie Gilbert, Louie Spiccoli, Pillman, Bulldog)

Pfft. World of difference between a bikini bottom and showing your cooter. :stuck_out_tongue:

He he…cooter.

“Lex Luger arrested for drugs? Ms. Elizabeth dead…possibly by an OD? Holy WWF Smack Down, Batman…!”

That’s a LOT of young people with heart attacks. Steroids? Coke?

Many of them are a combination of drugs. In Brian Pillman’s case I believe it was painkillers and coke.

Unlike baseball, football etc there is no offseason in professional wrestling. While pro wrestling is scripted, getting thrown around a ring for 200 plus nights a year takes a huge toll on your body. In order to make money the wrestlers must perform at the shows, so many of them pop painkillers to help them out. Since they don’t get time off to recover from a pulled muscle or other minor injury they keep popping painkillers and it soon turns into an addiction.

I remember hearing about one wrestler who after performing for the night would go back to the hotel and take something to bring him down so he could sleep. In the morning he would have to take something to bring him up, and then before performing that night would pop some painkillers and repeat as necessary.

Unfortunately there seems to be an attitude that performing while hurt makes you more of a “man” and raises your standing with other wrestlers. A few weeks ago Kurt Angle performed at Wrestlemania with a neck injury that could have killed or paralyzed him if he landed the wrong way. He knew it, the WWE knew it, and yet he still performed because it was the biggest show of the year. He did have surgery on his neck a few days after the show and is now out for a year IIRC.

Convict: IIRC, Kurt Angle was due to have a fusion in his neck which would have put him out for up to a year. However, he decided to go for a different operation which, with luck, will mean that he’ll be back in just a couple of months.

You don’t get that big without steroids (as big as the big wrestlers now), while travelling and performing non-stop.

The juice rate is near 100%. Some never take a break from the cycle, some use less.

But it is everywhere.
