MS Excel behaving weirdly

Until now, hitting the arrow keys has moved me into adjacent cells in MS Excel. Now suddenly it’s scrolling the page. What changed? How do I make it go back?

I can’t tell you what version I’m using because this version doesn’t have the menu that I’m used to looking for version numbers in. It just has a bunch of tabs for different things.

Damnit, I liked the old menus. I knew how to use them.

Hit the Scroll lock key

Looks like you are using version 2007 or 2010.
Those versions use the new Ribbon system (the tabs) instead of menu items.

It took me a little while but I got used to them. Can’t say that they are a big improvement but I’m pretty well over the frustration part of the learning process.

In some ways the ribbon system puts all the commands for similar tasks in the some area. Great if you plan to do a lot of similar tasks but as annoying as hell sometimes to hunt down which ribbon tab has the feature you need.

Go to the “Get Started” tab
Click the interactive guide. It brings up a web page with a link:

On that page click “Start the Guide”. This brings up what looks like an old version of Excel. If you go to the command you want in the old version it will show you where it is in the new version. It’s very handy.

I’ll try that when I get to work tomorrow.

Cool! I’ll check that out when I get to work, too!

I couldn’t find the “Get Started” tab, but I just went directly to your link. That is a cool tool! Thanks for showing me that! I bookmarked it
