MS Outlook: Can I change names to email addresses?

If anyone can help me with this, you’ll be my hero forever (or at least for the next couple weeks).

I have a distribution list that was designed for using in Outlook-- all the recipients are listed LastName, FirstName; LastName, FirstName; etc. And copying this into the To: field in Outlook works just fine.

The problem is that now we need to send a message using a different tool to these same peopl, but do not have their actual email addresses; because it’ll be sent to more than 500 people, pulling their addresses manually would be painful.

SO: is there a way to get Outlook to cough up the email addresses? Surely it must know what they are in order to deliver messages. Can I find them out somehow?

The following answer assumes there is no Exchange server behind this:

In Outlook:
File Menu->Import/Export->Select Export to A File. Select the file type (most likely you will want CSV or Excel). You should then be asked what you want to export. Select the contacts folder. This should result in an export of the basic info for all contacts, including email address. You may need to clean the file up slightly before using it in your other application. Also, the Import/Export enginer may not have been installed by default & you may need to have your Outlook CD handy.

If there is an Exchange server in the picture, the data may be server side & will require a different method to extract.
