I was fooling around, just trying things, in order to learn how to use it better “cause you can’t hurt your computer” said my son.
So now I’ve got this four-page Word document that all of a sudden doesn’t have that pull bar on the right side that lets you move the document up and down so you can get to different parts of it! Please help me get it back ::whimper:: (No, my son doesn’t know from MS Word.)
Oh, and I’ve also somehow added another section along the left side of the document (about 2" wide) that has parts of the document in it. I don’t know why, nor do I care, but I’d like it to go away.
If anyone can help me with this–as you can tell, I need it in very simple terms–I will be most appreciative.
Go to View, then click “Full Screen” to take the full screen off. If you can’t see the pull-down menus (in other words, where it says "File Edit View Insert Format etc), then take your cursor arrow and “bump” it up on the top of your screen and the pull-down menus will appear.
Hey, you two–your screen names don’t do you justice!
Okay, that got rid of the left-hand thingy, just as you said it should. I’ve had the full screen on and off now, and 100% is checked, but there’s still no bar-pull thing on the right side of the document. It’s coming back to me now that I was in View and somewhere there was a choice of vertical or horizontal something-or-others, and remembering a pesky vertical ruler I didn’t like, I’ll bet I clicked on something bad there. But I can’t find it now.
Try Tools → Options → View tab. In there, you should see “Horizontal scroll bar” and “Vertical scroll bar”. Make sure they’re both selected, then click Ok. This is based on Word 2000, you may have a different way to get to the View options.
The “bar pull thing” you’re talking about is called the vertical scroll bar.
