MS Word - Tables in documents with two colums

I’ve been googling for a while now, but since my question involves “columns” and “tables”, all the results I get is about columns in tables.

But the challenge I’m facing is not regarding table columns, but tables in a document with two body text columns.

What I want to do is to allow some tables to stretch from side to side on the page, over two columns so to speak, because there are too many columns in the table to fit in one body text column.

And I can’t figure out how this is done. Could somebody help?

You might need to put in a section break (continuous) before the table, revert to single column for your table, put in a section break (continuous) after the table and choose two-column.

Thank you for taking time. When I do so the table is divided into two parts, side-by-side in one body text column each…! I will keep working along the line you pointed out and see if I can find the solution… Meanwhile, any further tips are most welcome, of course.

Ah! If I mark the table and choose one body text column, it works! (Perhaps you took that for granted.) Thank you very much!

Yes- that’s what I meant by "revert to single column for your table’. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
