MSU v U of M

actually, what I said was "we up here in Sparty land obviously favor academics over the football program… "
which I meant to convey our obvious lack of attention to the football program ( ) and was in no way intended as an academic slur to our neighbors in the South (although, as I recall, we have more Rhodes Scholars associated with MSU than U of M does, nyah nyah  )

(I was joking…) Note the attention to detail by selecting only the green smilies to use…

** Ralf **?/ you ** work ** for MSU, too? which department? I was a student there from 72 - 76, have been back to speak at CJ, Soc. Work and Education classes in the past several years.

Yup. I work in Administrative Information Systems, though it was Admin. Data Processing when you were here. We’re the administrative computer jockeys on campus - you know, payroll, personnel, accounting, that kind of thing. I’m a systems analyst here, hence the name RalfCoder. The folks next door in the Computer Center do the academic and research stuff. we’re located in the Admin. Building, right by the beach on the Red Cedar.

And I think the idea of lunch is great. How about we let BunnyGirl get settled in next week, and then we’ll set a date and go thai one on?

And Persephone - are you in the Lansing area?

University of Michigan.

In addition to it being my alma mater, U of M has a consistently respectable football program that is the envy of everyone else in the Big 10.

Go Blue!

Somehow I suspect the folks at Ohio State would argue with you on this one…

Aww, I feel so at home on this thread.
Right now I’m sitting in my East Lansing apartment smiling as I see references to El Az, Yakeley/Gilchrist and Bangkok House on the screen.
If I weren’t sick, I’d probably go get a burger and a beer at The Peanut Barrel (which I’m shocked hasn’t been mentioned yet)
I’ve never disclosed this on here before, but I’m editor of the paper at MSU. We’ll be playing the staff of U of M’s paper the friday before the game in Ann Arbor.
We’ve lost three years in a row to them… but not this year. We’ve been practicing for weeks to kick their butts all the way to the Diag.
Speaking of the Michigan Delay, er, Daily, here’s a lovely column they ran last week. I guess even the Wolverweenies are ashamed of this one:

I’ve never done a link before. Hope that works. To visit an actual good college newspaper, please go to http://www.statenews.com.

Actually, Persephone is in Flint but I think her schedule is flexible enough to allow her to drive down for lunch with us.

Comments, Pers?

Spartans Fans:

Q. How do you get a U-M graduate off your porch?
A. Pay him for the pizza.

Q. What’s the first thing a U-M female does when she gets up in the morning?
A. Goes home.

Q. Where should you go for cover during a tornado in the East Lansing area?
A. The end zones at Spartan Stadium. There are never any touchdowns there.

Wolverines Fans:

Q. What does the average Spartan get on his college entrance exam?
A. Drool.

Q. What does a female Spartan say after sex?
A. So, are all you guys on the same team?

Go Blue!

I’ll be enjoying the game from Row 17 Section 28. That’s the student section.

Hello wolfman, Shadowfox, CrankyAsAnOldMan, Althea.

Where are all the other UofM students, alumni, or fans? The Spartans are way overrepresenting us.

I, too, thought this was a MSU (Mississippi State University) and U of M (University of Mississippi) question.

Then I saw Eastern… and we don’t have an Eastern, but we do have a Southern.

Good choice of schools, racinchikki! (If you are still even watching this thread.) I am a MSU alum.

Milossarian, do you sell bandages or coffins by any chance? :stuck_out_tongue:
