I know that MTV is one 24/7 self-promo machiune for itself, but this is giving me a really bad headache.
I have never seen anything get this overhyped, and that includes the fucking Super Bowl.
Just get on with the fucking show already.
I’m not even going to get started on how there is no way in hell that the actual show will come anywhere near to living up to the hype for it.
I’d like to add, Why are they giving these awards anymore? They don’t show videos on MTV anymore, so why give awards to something they don’t play on that channel? Where are we supposed to have seen these videos?

All award shows are overhyped non-events. Never any interesting surprises, either.
The other day I saw a run through of “highlights” of the VMA’s. Some from the past were quite funny…Eddie Murphy in the Ladies Room, Ru Paul and Milton Berle, Tony Benett with Flea and Anthony Keidis.
Apparently when Nirvana ceased to appear is around when I completely lost interest in MTV. I never realized how ‘unhip’ by MTV standards I have become…which is probably a good thing. I can’t name a single nominee this year or identify what they do at all.
Mmmmmmm, now where IS that remote control?
Its funny, MTV is hyping it in the same way Wrestlemania is hyped. Plugging it in all their shows, etc.

If MTV is hyping their awards like the WWF(E, whatever) plugs Wrestlemania, that should tell you something:
The awards are about as real as Wrestlemania.
I haven’t watched the MTV awards in years, and the year they let Shawn & Marlon “Nepotism explains our careers” Wayans host was the last straw for me. Unless Shakira and Britney Spears get in a clothes-ripping catfight, I’m not watching.
And what the fuck is the deal with John Norris and his hairline? Even Dave Kendall’s wig wasn’t that phony looking.
Hrrm wouldn’t the baseball strike be the most hyped non event?
