MTV's Daria on DVD or the Internet?

I’ve heard that the show Daria is coming out on DVD next year, finally! But I’m guessing there’s nowhere else to watch it until then? I found a site that had youtube links of it but they were all taken down. Does anyone know if there’s anywhere to watch it? Thanks!

Yes, there are places where you can watch Daria. There are better video search engines than YouTube out there that will refer you to out-of-country sites where getting the videos pulled down is a lot harder, if not impossible.

While I generally think the morality of watching TV online to be the same as that of recording shows on your TiVo, I’m not sure we are allowed to post links around here. As far as I know, YouTube is the only exception.

ETA: Unless someone can actually explain the two-click rule to me…

Oops…sorry if I made a major boner in posting this thread.

Have you ever seen the DVDs of the Daria movies, Is It Fall Yet and Is It College Yet? Both also have two episodes each on them so it’s like getting six episodes per disc.

I rented those a while back. It’s just that I’ve never had a chance to just watch all of them. Not since I saw them back on TV and that was years ago and I was a lot younger–I’d just like to see how they hold up, or things that maybe went over my head or that I’m totally forgetting. Maybe I’ll rerent the movies this weekend–It HAS been a while since I saw either of them.

ETA: Though I guess I tend to group the movies in as “later.” I just want to go back and see the very early ones. Damnit, MTV, why this taking so long.

Music rights. MTV only got broadcast rights for most of the music on the show. Daria was one the last TV shows produced before production companies realized the lucrative potential of DVD box sets.

Is it Fall Yet and Is it College Yet are the season 4 and series finale episodes, respectively, and may not be enjoyed as much stand alone unless the recent plot prior to the episode is remembered.

A few years ago there were some websites along with E-Bay offering bootleg copies of the entire series recorded from MTV’s “Sarcastithon 3000” when they ran the entire series from beginning to end, complete with major episode introductions by Daria & Jane. I don’t know if any are still available or as to the legality of said purchases.
Daria is one of my all time favorite shows, if the powers at be offer DVDs they are almost certain not to have the original music which added so much to the series. Most of the muscial selections directly related to the themes of each episode.

I know, IceRigger, I know. I’m just so desperate at this point that I’d take them without original music.

At last, my moment to shine!

I’m happy to be able to report that, indeed, according to current reports, there’s apparently a plan to release the series on DVD in late 2010.

Honestly, it’s been so long that as long as the music is similar, I don’t think any of us would even notice. As long as the music was similar of course.

I don’t know you just lose so much. For example, the episode when Daria and Jane split over Tom the music played over the end credits was Cake’s “Friend is a Four Letter Word” you can’t get more poignant than that! Since D&J are so close as well as Daria’s only friend the music just stabs you in the heart.

When they do release the series, will it be with the music, then, or will they just replace it? Either way I’m okay with it. I’m just curious about how they resolved the issue.

I saw the same report and it doesn’t say. But they’re coming, that’s the important thing.
