Here in Maine it’s the season between winter and summer. Nothing is green yet, and the piles of remaining snow are so far removed from white that they probably can’t even be considered snow anymore. My driveway is a treacherous mess of brown goo. It tracks into the house, the car (my new car!); it’s even plowed up into the garden. Paving the driveway will cost upwards of $4000; not an option at this time. So in my driveway, and everywhere else, it’s nothing but brown, brown, brown. Don’t get me wrong–I love living here. Winter is fun, summer is lovely, and fall is a season to swoon for. Mud season, however, can bite me.
