Mudslides in California--Dopers, how are you dealing?

I’ve been watching the Weather Channel and saw the incredible landslide that trapped people in California. It’s been said that there will be a very strong El Nino this year that will inundate California with rain–I hope that some of that water will be trapped. How are the California dopers dealing with this freakish weather?

Up here in the northern half it has yet to arrive ( unless you are extending that description to our eternal drought ) - we’re still more or less high and dry. Since El Niño tends to send warm tropical storms up from the south, the heaviest rains will hit southern CA if predictions hold up. That thunderstorm was at the Tehachapis, which sort of biogeographically divides north from the south and is ~300 miles south of where I am in the SF Bay Area.
