Multiple zits in odd places. Normal or not? (may be TMI)

When I was a teen I had pretty bad acne. Face, chest and back were affected. Luckily, I’ve grown out of it and now I’ll only get the occasional zit on those areas. Otherwise, my skin is usually pretty clear.

Sometimes, though, I’ll get these weird breakouts where I’ll get scattered zits on parts of the body (I thought) it wasn’t normal to have breakouts. It happens maybe once every couple months or so, sometimes longer. I don’t think it’s hormonal, as it never occurs at certain times in my cycle, just whenever. The zits are the large, red, sore swollen ones that may or may not form a pustule. Right now I’m in the middle of a breakout. I have 3 big zits on my right forearm, 4 on my left, multiple embarrasing ugly ones on my neck and jawline, one on my upper right thigh, one in my left ear canal (ow), one on my inner labia (double ow) and two on my chest. They’re nasty looking, and they seem to take a long time to heal. Does anyone else get this, or does it sound like some kind of weird disease?

IANAD. You need to talk about this with your doctor. Anecdotal blah blah crap follows.

I have the labia owie very rarely, but, more specifically, when my blood sugar is high or I’m coming off antibiotics. My gyn. told me never to pop them; to always use hot compresses on them. As hot as you can handle. More InfoPopping, other than causing severe pain, just spreads badness where you don’t want badness to be. Eventually it’ll go away.

As to the other outbreaks, it could just be adult acne. Sorry. We all believe that pimples will go away after high school, but it doesn’t for everyone. My mom is 70 and still has pimples every so often.
