Multivitamin and drinking - proper medical research?

I have found that if I take a multivitamin at the end of a night of drinking it greatly reduces the frequency and severity of hangovers. It seems to me that a few other people know this ‘home remedy’ as well.

Has anyone ever seen any medical research on this?

I should point out that in my experience, it is the multi-vitamin that makes the difference, not the glass of water, as I always end a long night with a glass of water but I am only sometimes able to get my hands on a multivitamin.

Could all just be a placebo effect for all I know.
