I’ll start, I hate cleaning eye glasses. My old ones I could just spray with windex and get the job done. The ones I have now need soap and water. It’s not challenging, it’s not difficult, but I seriously hate doing it.
Its weird. I don’t mind hand washing dishes at home. But for some reason, I absolutely despise doing it in other people’s houses. I’m just never the person to help clean the table and wash the dishes. I’ll help you set up, I’ll lay out the place settings, I’ll put food on the table, I’ll even help you put chairs away after dinner. I just won’t help with the dishes.
I hate clipping my nails. I don’t know why. Lest you think I look like one if those people in the Guinness Book with horrible spirals of keratin coming from their fingers and toes, I do keep them neatly trimmed. I just really dislike doing it.
I hate doing dishes and folding laundry …
Cleaning dingleberries off the cat’s ass.
Drying and putting away cutlery, and matching socks. I will do ALL the dishes, or ALL the laundry if I don’t have to do those final tasks.
Hate getting my hair cut. I used to have a friend that had a ‘salon’ in her house. That wasn’t too bad as we went way back (and she would offer me a beer).
She moved on. I have a ‘regular stylist’ again. Every six weeks. I guess I just hate the small talk. And it seems like a wasted half hour of my life.
Flossing my teeth.
Putting away dishes. I really don’t mind putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher, but putting the clean ones away always gets put off.
Same with laundry, I sort of enjoy doing the laundry, but putting it away is sheer drudgery.
Mowing the yard. I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager, never really gave it a second thought when I got married – I just assumed it was my job, and didn’t really mind too much. But lately, I just hate having to deal with it. But I’d still rather do it myself than pay a neighborhood kid $25 a pop to do it.
I hate vacuuming. It’s tedious and the canister vacuum cleaner is unwieldy. Plus I often wind up with a sore back afterwards from all the twisting.
I dunno if it’s mundane but my least favorite chore is weed trimming with the weed whacker. It’s physically hard, it only needs to be done on the hot days, my trimmer is the bomb but I still always manage to run out of fuel or line halfway through, and to do it right I gotta do both sides of the fence, and to do it REALLY right I gotta then get out the rake and rake up the stuff I trimmed on my neighbor’s side of the fence.
You know the way your kid acts like you’re just KILLING them when you ask them to do something mundane like brush their teeth? That’s how I feel when it’s time to trim.
Dusting. I hate to dust to the depths of my being with the fire of a thousand suns!
Second is scrubbing the shower.
I’m OK with other chores - as OK as one can be with chores - but I truly hate dusting and shower-scrubbing.
Cleaning the cat litter.
The person I am married to wuvs wuvs WUVS the kitties SOOO much!
But they can’t be bothered to scoop the shit. It just presses my buttons.
Washing Gracie’s teats.
My gf has a mare named Gracie. She needs her mammae washed with warm water and soap occasionally. Totally mundane. When gf is doing more complicated equine care, she’ll ask my to wash Gracie’s teats since it’s a job I can handle. But it makes me feel a little weird, maybe because the horse acts like she is enjoying my ministrations.
What happens if you do not dust? When I have lived alone, I never dusted. I would periodically have someone clean my house; maybe they dusted, I don’t know. When I’ve lived with a S.O., they’ve dusted (I assume), but I have never dusted, nor would I ever want to.
I hate brushing my teeth. Hate it. I find it a little easier with a sonicare toothbrush but i still hate it. But I LOVE my Waterpik.
I also hate matching socks. In general, putting the laundry away. Don’t mind rounding it up, sorting it, throwing it in the washing machine, putting it in the dryer/hanging it on the line. But when it’s time to put it away, ugh. Especially the goddamned socks.
Actually I don’t like putting anything away. Not enough places/too much stuff. Need to fix. Don’t wanna.
I hate mowing grass (vile weed) so much that I killed the entire back and side grass by covering it with paper and bark chips, and half the front yard by having the sod removed and bringing in topsoil for veggie/flower gardens. That still leaves a small front patch that only takes about 5-10 minutes to do, but I still leave it until it’s six inches tall or more before cutting it. Hate grass.
I seem to remember singing that song around the campfire when I was in scouts.
Let’s just say ‘cleaning.’
