I have to agree that since Jim died, the muppets haven’t been as good - but that doesn’t stop me hoping and going out and seeing each new installment.
Besides which, I still quite enjoyed many of the more recent movies - just not as much as the old ones.
Now what I’m really looking forward to is the realse of The Muppet Show season set DVDs, with Season 1 due out some time later this year
Even though I already own the time life best of DVDs, I am so there for the season sets.
Treasure Island just rocks. From Tim Curry to Billy Connolly…it is just fabulous.
If a season 1 DVD collection comes out, I am buying it.

Just a bump and a reminder that Muppets Wizard of Oz is on tonight at 8 Eastern.
Much appreciated! I would have missed it. (Though maybe I should wait and see if it’s any good before I thank you.)
Well, that explains a lot.
It looks like it was directed by a punk in a bus.

Eh. It was cute and had some good lines (though Pepe got most of them). The music was forgettable, though.
We kind of liked the “We’re friends of Dorothy!” line…
PepeTo meeting TINGonzo made the whole thing worthwhile
Shit.
We missed it while reading Harry Potter #2 .
Bright point is that we finished it tonight. YAY! :smack: :smack:

There were some highlights (I especially enjoyed Pepe’s '80s band conspiracy theory. “Toto? '80s band. Kansas? '80s band. Journey? '80s band. And when we get to the witch- wham! '80s band!”)
Two audio things I found funny:
-When Gonzo falls through the trap door, he screams like Goofy.
-After the Wicked Witch drowns, you can hear a doorbell ring- most likely a reference to that other wizard film.
“Man, Dorothy witch-slapped her.”
That line made me do a double take.
I didn’t realise Queen Latifah played the aunt until the last scene.
Actually, I thought that Scooter sounded too much like Mickey Mouse. I know, I know, Disney. . .ABC. . .Muppets. . .end of civilization as we know it, but Scooter’s voice just really rubbed me the wrong way.
Waste
“Those are my nipples.” Hehe.

I noticed the shoes were silver, as L. Frank Baum wrote them.
“The Witch is in the House” was a cool number.
And I do like Pepe the Prawn!
If you go over to TVShowsonDVD , you’ll see that Season 1 of the Muppets will be coming out on DVD on August 9!

I tuned in during some horrible song and just couldn’t watch any further. And I love the Muppets!
I think they need to split up and work on some solo projects.
Kermit and Piggy have a nice commercial career going.
