Muscle magazine facial expressions

FRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUIT!!!

(That’s what he’s saying in my head)

Ha ha that’s pretty funny!

If you are referring to my issues in 2011, then yes, that’s me. A tad late and totally irrelevant but good memory nonetheless.

It is pretty funny.

I guess the aim is to exude masculinity.

You’re missing the audio. He’s just singing along to Dancing Queen. Backing vocals, probably.
Hijack: Bodybuilding mags, to me, are just a stack of full-page supplement ads with a sprinkle of generic “how to train arms” articles featuring Phil Heath or a well-known amateur. But then, I’m not a bodybuilder. OP, is there any informative content in bodybuilding magazines from your point of view, in this day and age?

I was kind of hearing a “Oh YEAH!” Kool-Aid Man thing.

A dainty squirt of Mio and busting through a wall are pretty much equivalent effort if you’re manly enough!

Yes, actually but you need to know where to look to sort thru all the crap. IMO, Muscular Development (the magazine) has the most up to date medical and scientific information available in any of the mags. There are actual MDs and PHDs who are part of the writing team that contribute regularly in the form of columns and articles. But other than that, I pretty much agree with your opinion of the niche publications. They are just trying to appeal to the most eager yet uninformed consumer out there to sell them a dream.

You’ve never seen over-the-top facial expressions in advertising other than body building?

What planet are you on?
mmm

I think the OP’s example is much funnier than those.

Maybe but he didn’t claim it was the funniest. He said it “takes the ?wtf cake.”
“What in the ever-loving fuck is this guy screaming about?!”

I think MMM had it right. There are many ”What in the ever-loving fuck” expressions in all types of advertising. Look, the OP’s example is mildly funny, I think he just oversold it.

So do I.

But it wasn’t a funniest face competition.
mmm

I think in MMM’s ads the facial expression makes sense in context (yay we can have SEX!), the OP’s ad is in a different league all together.

I think the OP’s example is hilarious and at a level of WTFness that far surpasses the other examples given, which are at least showing expressions that would logically be related to the events shown. For me, the “overselling” is from Mio-Squirting-Dude. “Hiyaaaaaah!”

Yeah, it’s a total non-sequitor facial expression, looks like one he might make if he was squirting Tabasco on his cock or something.

Okay, now THIS is what I’m going to be picturing!

It looks like a bad photoshop to me. It’s like somebody took a random head, tilted it too far to the right, and put it on a different body.

Yeah. And then stuck a random name and profession next to it all.

Ha!

Um, Earth. Your snark failed, sorry.

It sorta does, but I’m pretty certain that’s his head and his body. Google his name (Felipe Franco), you’ll find many images that at first glance seem Photoshopped. I think the dude’s head just doesn’t match his body well.
