Music management for android

Apple has iTunes and the iPhone… what is the equivalent for windows and an android phone?

I want to have an app on my computer that can rip cds and manage an mp3 library, playlists, etc. And then synch with my Android phone. Bonus - my wife and I have 2 phones and different tastes in music  … so, it would be nice if the app recognized 2 users or 2 phones.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Google Play Music even incorporates a music store, like iTunes. It syncs your music to the Cloud to allow on the go streaming from your Android devices. I can’t recall if it rips CDs because I haven’t done that in years. When I installed it on my pc it just located my iTunes library and imported it.

Google Play Music is one of the things that drive some people back to iPhone. There was a major update a couple of weeks ago that a lot of people hated. If I hadn’t been able to roll back this update, I would have had to go back to Double Twist (paid version). DT is also far from perfect, often failing to find song titles or put them in the proper albums. You’d think if Shazzam can tell you what’s playing on the radio when you hold the phone up to the speaker, then the playback apps would be able to name and organize your onboard mp3s correctly.

Mp3 file management generally is a huge problem. The songs on my Digital Vinyl album by Howlin’ Wolf all have titles like :y$ and @34:. This has happened on a few albums, while for others the app will only list or play the tracks in alphabetical order. It basically sucks.

A lot of people swear by WinAmp. I just manage my files manually, and haven’t needed to rip a CD in years.

Have you actually bought a CD in years?
Personally, I’m not crazy about iTunes or Google Play. Both have clunky, laggy interfaces.
